From the moment the mailboxes arrived, the children were fascinated. They loved finding their names and quickly began using their own slots to store their drawings, practice pages, and special classroom work. It has helped them feel so grown up and independent, and they take great pride in putting their papers away all by themselves.\r\n\r\nOne moment that touched my heart happened after drawing our self portraits. After finishing their art, one student held it up proudly and said, \"I am going to put this in my mailbox to show my family.\" Moments like that show how meaningful this organizer has become. It has helped our pack up routine tremendously. Instead of misplaced papers or confusion at the end of the day, students walk over, check their mailbox, and gather their work with confidence.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our projects, the mailboxes will keep supporting our little learners. Thank you so much. This organizer has become part of our daily classroom life.","fullyFundedDate":1756997328989,"projectUrl":"project/proud-organizers/9625573/","projectTitle":"Proud Organizers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Steffien","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10190312"},{"teacherId":1987948,"projectId":9081734,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting our PAL (Peer Assistance Leadership) program! With the addition of the new storage shed and materials, our PAL leaders have been able to expand the ways they engage with their peers during recess. They now have quick and easy access to a wide variety of games, sports equipment, and creative supplies, which has made a noticeable difference in the quality of interactions and activities on the playground. One standout moment was when the PAL leaders set up an art station using chalk, markers, and paper, creating a welcoming space for students who prefer more creative play. It was heartwarming to see students from different grade levels collaborating on drawings and encouraging each other.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were beyond excited. Their faces lit up as they opened the boxes, and there was an immediate buzz of ideas about how to use everything. The PAL leaders took initiative right away, organizing the supplies and brainstorming new games and activities they could introduce to the playground. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and it sparked greater participation and inclusiveness among students during recess.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, the next step for our PAL leaders is to design weekly themed activity days—like \"Mindful Mondays\" or \"Friendship Fridays\" with collaborative art projects and/or games. These planned activities not only promote positive social interaction but also build leadership and organizational skills. Thanks to your generous support, our students are not only enjoying their recess more—they're growing into confident, thoughtful leaders who are making a real difference in our school community.","fullyFundedDate":1746810424677,"projectUrl":"project/storage-for-pal-peer-assistance-leadersh/9081734/","projectTitle":"Storage for PAL Peer Assistance Leadership Materials","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Yilmaz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1987948_orig.jpg?crop=1326,1326,x0,y362&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738623101692","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/dermencis"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_91679","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":529,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":31,"percentAsian":53,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":15,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"27.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":87.5,"schoolId":91679,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Urbain Plavan Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Urbain Plavan Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/fountain-valley-school-district/urbain-plavan-elementary-school/91679"}
