I surveyed the students about which chairs we should donate to other classrooms to make room for the new seating. There was a lot of excitement around who got to put the \"Up for grabs\" signs on the old chairs, and who would get to sit in the pretty, new rolling ones. The big appeal is that sliding in and out of their seats is so much easier with wheels. The chairs seem to accomodate many different body types, as well.\r\n\r\nThe next step is to get more chairs that have casters. New colored pencils have been put top work creating backgrounds for their tanka and haiku poetry, as well as their lifesize samurai posters. They were overjoyed with the new pencil sharpeners too! The line to try these new shareners was so much fun! You have given several students the opportunity to take photos, some for the very first time! \r\nThe cameras you purchased are used at least three out of the 5 days per week, capturing history/memories of our 25 -26 school year. Your donations have created confidence, social skills, patiences, and a lot of pride for \"the\" picture that's placed within our school annual. \r\nStudents are excited to use the cameras, upload their images, and begin the editing process. Because of your thoughtfulness, the students no longer seek my approval for their photos! They now have the confidence to trust their own judgement and I truly appreciate this, because YOU gave them this opportunity to grow and expand their experiences. I would have never been able to accomplish this without your support, especially during the Middle School years.\r\nYou have assisted with the life skills these students now carry, which will cross over into any aspect of their lives. They are soft and comfortable. The mics work really well, even if you use a low volume of voice (great for those shy folks!). My students feel very \"treated\" by this gift of noise-cancelling headsets. They are taking proper care of them, and it's a big deal when they get to use them. \r\n\r\nThe greatest thing is that I am having more students feel comfortable about voice typing. That was a top priority--to level the playing field. In addition, when we do diagnostic testing or state testing, headsets are required. The experience will now be much more pleasant for the kids. \r\n\r\nThis was a big ask, as it was expensive, and once again, donors came through and supported our classroom.
