As a Resource Specialist teacher, many of my students benefit from structure and consistency, and having comfortable, designated seating has helped reduce distractions and increase engagement. I noticed this right away during a reading lesson when a student who often struggled to stay seated remained focused and actively participated throughout the entire activity.\r\n\r\nWhen the chairs first arrived, students were excited to see our small group space feel more welcoming and ready for learning. The chairs are now used daily during reading, writing, and math lessons, helping students transition smoothly and stay engaged with their learning. Moving forward, we will continue using this space to support students' individual learning goals and collaborative activities, allowing them to build confidence and academic skills in a calm and supportive environment. They are helping students strengthen their phonemic awareness, spelling, and word-building skills in a hands-on, engaging way. It's been incredible to watch students light up as they map out sounds, gain confidence in their reading and writing abilities, and enjoy learning in a more interactive environment.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, my students are not only developing foundational literacy skills—they're also experiencing the joy of discovery and growth in Language Arts.\r\n\r\nWe appreciate your investment in their education and your belief in the power of learning tools to transform classrooms. As a Resource Specialist teacher, I work with students who learn best through visual supports, movement, and hands-on instruction. The Flex-Space Double-Sided Mobile Teaching Easel has allowed learning to come to my students instead of requiring them to come to the front of the room. During a recent small group lesson, one student who typically avoids participating volunteered to come up and help solve a problem on the easel. Seeing his confidence grow in that moment reminded me how powerful accessible tools can be in helping students feel successful.\r\n\r\nWhen the easel first arrived, students were excited to see a new learning space that could move around the classroom. They immediately wanted to write, draw, and share their ideas. The ability to easily reposition the easel has helped students stay engaged during reading, writing, and math lessons, and it has encouraged more collaboration and discussion among peers. Students now look forward to lessons where they can actively participate and see their thinking displayed in real time.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue using the easel to support writing organization, reading comprehension discussions, and math problem-solving connected to students' individual learning goals. Our next step is increasing student-led learning, where students model strategies and reflect on their progress together. Because of you, our classroom is more inclusive, engaging, and responsive to student needs. Thank you for investing in our students and helping create opportunities for every child to learn with confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1651616686244,"projectUrl":"project/accessible-student-learning/6345414/","projectTitle":"Accessible Student Learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vazquez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8400197_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758570917643","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8400197"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_34254","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":441,"numTeachers":26,"percentFrplEligible":84,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":95,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"17.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.5,"schoolId":34254,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Live Oak Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Live Oak Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/fontana-unified-school-district/live-oak-elementary-school/34254"}
