They have helped my students focus on math instruction because they are no longer distracted by the games and YouTube videos available on their Chromebooks. Now that the Chromebooks are closed and they have standalone calculators, the distractions have reduced dramatically. Additionally, students have to work with their peers to help solve problems because, when they had Chromebooks, they would just Google the answer or how to solve it. Now that they only have calculators, they have to be more intentional about solving math problems.
