As a School Social Worker, I spend much of my time helping students build the foundational skills needed for emotional regulation, especially with our youngest learners in Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten, who are just beginning to understand their feelings and how to manage them. Because of your support, I was able to launch an after-school group centered around \"growing our inner garden,\" where students learn that their emotions, like plants, need care, attention, and nurturing. We have used the kinetic sand to \"plant\" our emotions and talk about what helps them grow in healthy ways. The mini emotion plushies and accompanying books have helped students identify and name their feelings, while the sensory fidget tubes and other tools have supported calming strategies such as deep breathing and grounding techniques. Seeing their faces light up with excitement and comfort when they engage with these materials has truly brought tears to my eyes.\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their joy was immediate and heartfelt. There were gasps of excitement, huge smiles, and so much curiosity. For many of them, these tools were not just \"fun items,\" but tangible supports that helped them feel safe, understood, and empowered. One especially meaningful moment was watching a student who often struggles with frustration independently choose a fidget, use the visual timer, and practice a breathing technique we had learned, without prompting! That small but powerful act of self-regulation was a direct reflection of your generosity in action. The impact has been so significant that I have expanded these supports into a third-grade leadership group, where students are using the magnets, sensory rings, stress balls, and visual timers to practice teamwork, patience, and self-management as emerging campus leaders.\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps include deepening students' ability to independently select regulation strategies and reflect on which tools work best for them. In both groups, we are working toward building emotional vocabulary, strengthening peer leadership skills, and helping students transfer these strategies back into their classrooms and homes. We are continuing to cultivate our \"inner garden,\" teaching students that with the right tools and care, they can grow into strong, resilient, and compassionate individuals. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for investing in our students' emotional growth. Your generosity is helping them bloom into beautiful flowers in the garden of our school community.","fullyFundedDate":1760989282428,"projectUrl":"project/peaceful-minds-start-here/9707769/","projectTitle":"Peaceful Minds Start Here","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Javier","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10256133"},{"teacherId":3090943,"projectId":9662798,"letterContent":"Thank you so very much for your donation!!!
