Thank you so much for providing the laminated and protective sheets they've already transformed how we teach and how our students learn. We use the laminated sheets to make reusable resources for hands‑on activities; being able to reset materials quickly means more time for experimentation and discussion. The protective sheets let us share materials across multiple class periods without worrying about wear, and they discourage writing directly on single‑use paper so resources stay fresh and available for every group. On sunny days we take math lessons outside using these durable materials, and the change of setting helps students feel more relaxed, collaborative, and willing to try new problem‑solving strategies.\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials they were genuinely excited. That enthusiasm carried straight into learning: groups immediately began designing game variations, predicting outcomes, measuring results, and refining their approaches based on evidence. Next, we're building on that momentum by having students design a short experiment for Net Force Football where they vary surface friction and mass, record data, and calculate net forces to draw conclusions. We'll then have students present their findings, reflect on how changing conditions affected motion, and propose improvements to their experiments so they experience the full cycle of scientific inquiry.","fullyFundedDate":1757683046258,"projectUrl":"project/equipped-to-explore-tools-for-thinking/9626698/","projectTitle":"Equipped to Explore: Tools for Thinking Inside and Outside Classrooms","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Reed","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8579343_orig.jpg?crop=213,213,x0,y66&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1736374925500","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/tiffany-reed"},{"teacherId":9773641,"projectId":8813602,"letterContent":"I can't thank you enough for your generosity in funding our cow eye dissection lab! Because of your support, CAMS middle school students experienced hands-on science in a way that truly brought their learning to life.\r\n\r\nOn the day of the lab, excitement filled the room as students saw prepared trays containing preserved cow eyes, scalpels, and diagrams. They donned their lab coats, safety goggles, and protective gloves and waited eagerly to begin. Some students jumped right in, while others hesitated—but by the end of the lab, everyone participated, whether by making incisions, handling the eyes, or guiding their partners in identifying key structures.\r\n\r\nDuring the dissection, students carefully explored the structures we had only seen in diagrams—the cornea, lens, retina, and optic nerve. Moments like these are why hands-on learning is so powerful. This experience illuminated and deepened their understanding of how their own eyes receive light, process images, and communicate with the brain. \r\n\r\nThis dissection will be a life-long memory for these middle school students. Your donation didn't just fund a single lesson—it ignited a deeper passion for science that will stay with these students far beyond this lab. \r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible.
