In an era where so many of my students go home and immediately transition to tablet screens, your gift provides a vital, tactile connection to the natural world. Instead of swiping through a digital interface, these children are now getting their hands dirty, feeling the texture of the earth, and learning the patience required to nurture a living thing.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our classroom has transformed into a living laboratory. The students are absolutely captivated by the \"see-through\" pots, which allow them to witness the hidden magic of root systems—a part of the life cycle they usually never get to see. Watching their faces light up as they spot the very first sprout breaking through the soil is a reminder of how impactful hands-on learning truly is. You haven't just given us supplies; you've given these children a front-row seat to the wonders of biology and a much-needed break from the digital world. We often forget the power of play, and the impact that exploring through play can have on our developing minds. What I have witnessed thus far is that students not only are able to use these items to work on large and fine motor skills, but they are negotiating differences and learning how to lead as well as follow directions. \r\n\r\nThe fort building has been a huge hit. Especially since we are learning about polar bears and penguins, students have gravitated toward building igloos. This was not a teacher directed activity. Rather, students chose to expand their learning into their daily choice time activities. The kit came with instructions, so students were eager to open the pamphlet and begin directing their friends through their build. I even had a TK student who is 4 years old take the lead. She began telling the students to, \"...build a hexagon. Okay, now set the hexagon on the floor.\"\r\n\r\nThe letter kit has been perfect for further establishing letter concepts, especially for my students who are struggling with letter names and sounds. Turning it into a fun building activity has really helped them to grasp the alphabetic principal.","fullyFundedDate":1765252284242,"projectUrl":"project/fe-architects/9887505/","projectTitle":"FE Architects","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Young","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5556281_orig.jpg?crop=750,750,x0,y170&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1572700446982","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5556281"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_39824","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":118,"numTeachers":5,"percentFrplEligible":87,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":23,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":70,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"23.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":73.0,"schoolId":39824,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Farmington Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Farmington Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/escalon-unified-school-district/farmington-elementary-school/39824"}
