Because of you, my second graders now have play money and basic classroom supplies that are already making a meaningful difference in our daily learning.\r\n\r\nWe are using the play money during our math lessons to practice counting, place value, and making change. One of our favorite moments so far was creating a \"classroom store.\" Students worked together to price items, count out the correct amount of money, and check each other's work. Even students who usually struggle with math felt confident and excited to participate. The basic classroom supplies have also helped ensure that every student has what they need to fully engage in lessons without worry.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were thrilled. Their faces lit up as they explored the play money and asked when we could start using it. Several students immediately said it made math feel fun and real, which was wonderful to hear.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue building on these lessons by using the play money for word problems, budgeting activities, and small group projects that focus on real-life math skills. These activities help students strengthen their understanding while building confidence, teamwork, and independence.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students the opportunity to learn in a hands-on and engaging way. Your generosity has made a lasting impact in our Title I classroom, and we are truly grateful for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1760693696843,"projectUrl":"project/making-music-building-futures/9512313/","projectTitle":"Making Music, Building Futures","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rivas von Bargen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9619842_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753817719122","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9619842"},{"teacherId":9619842,"projectId":9513041,"letterContent":"Thank you again for helping our classroom! The new microwave, mini fridge, and snack supplies have already made a huge difference in our day. Before, many of my students brought food that they couldn't heat or keep cold, which meant lunches were often rushed, uncomfortable, or eaten half-cold. Now, students can warm their meals, safely store yogurt or fruit, and even grab a quick snack if they didn't have breakfast that morning.\r\n\r\nOne moment that really stood out was our very first lunchtime with the new setup. A few students were literally cheering (one yelled, \"We're a real classroom now!\") as they took turns warming their food. Several students told me it felt \"like home\" to have warm lunches together. The room was full of smiles, quiet conversation, and that calm sense of being cared for — which is exactly what I hoped for.\r\n\r\nNext, our class is working on building healthy routines around taking care of our space and one another. Students have assigned roles to keep the fridge organized, wipe down the microwave, and make sure snacks are shared fairly and respectfully. This responsibility is helping them grow their independence and confidence — and the warmth and comfort of a good meal supports their learning more than I can ever fully express.","fullyFundedDate":1756075029551,"projectUrl":"project/help-me-minimize-disruptions-and-foster/9513041/","projectTitle":"Help Me Minimize Disruptions and Foster Independence","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rivas von Bargen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9619842_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753817719122","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9619842"},{"teacherId":9619842,"projectId":9512119,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom! Because of your kindness, my students will have access to hands-on learning tools and meaningful resources that make a real difference in their education.\r\n\r\nThe coin and bill manipulatives will help my students grasp tricky math concepts like decimals and value by connecting them to the real world. The scooters will give kids a chance to move, relieve stress, and re-focus—especially important for those who don't have safe spaces to play outside of school. A new rug will provide a warm, central gathering place for read-alouds, discussions, and group activities, building both comfort and community. And the new books will diversify our classroom library, giving students access to engaging, culturally relevant stories—often their only opportunity to read outside of school.\r\n\r\nTogether, these resources will make learning more accessible, joyful, and inclusive for every child in my classroom. We are deeply grateful for your generosity and for believing in our children.","fullyFundedDate":1755522453932,"projectUrl":"project/moving-minds-and-growing-bodies/9512119/","projectTitle":"Moving Minds and Growing Bodies","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rivas von Bargen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9619842_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753817719122","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9619842"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_62341","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":687,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":70,"percentAsian":34,"percentBlack":19,"percentWhite":6,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":26,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"24.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":73.2,"schoolId":62341,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Barbara Comstock Morse Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Barbara Comstock Morse Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/elk-grove-unified-school-district/barbara-comstock-morse-elementary-school/62341"}
