The standing desks have become a favorite workstation during independent reading and writing time. Students enjoy having the choice to move, stretch, and stay focused while they work. One moment that stood out was watching a group of students rotate naturally between a standing desk and a traditional seat as they collaborated on a writing assignment—it helped them stay engaged and energized. The snacks have also been a huge help during our longer lessons. Students who need a little boost can grab a quick snack and get right back into their work.\r\nTheir faces lit up! Several students immediately asked if they could \"try the tall desks,\" and many were excited to have a space where they could stand and work comfortably. The snacks were an instant hit too; students were surprised and thankful to have something available when they needed it. It helped set a positive tone and made them feel cared for.\r\nWe're currently working on building stronger reading stamina and writing focus. The standing desks are helping students take ownership of their learning by choosing the space that works best for them. The snacks support students who need a bit of energy to stay on track, especially during reading groups and writing workshops. Our next step is to continue practicing these routines so students can build independence, stay engaged, and make steady progress throughout the year.","fullyFundedDate":1763498716779,"projectUrl":"project/hungry-to-learn-snack-support-for-our-c/9828705/","projectTitle":"Hungry to Learn: Snack Support for Our Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sylva","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9219387_orig.jpg?crop=570,570,x0,y43&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1692928864644","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9219387"},{"teacherId":8769722,"projectId":9602043,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting our students and classroom. We use these resources daily to provide essential \"brain breaks,\" particularly during intense learning periods, such as lengthy math problem sets or collaborative project work. The moment the snacks arrived, the students' relief was palpable; it's a clear signal to them that their well-being is prioritized, which instantly creates a more nurturing and productive classroom environment. For example, during a challenging lesson on geometric proofs, a quick break fueled by your snacks helped students reset their minds, leading to a noticeable increase in their ability to concentrate and successfully solve complex problems immediately afterward. They are no longer distracted by hunger, allowing them to dedicate 100% of their energy to learning.\r\nThese snacks are now crucial components of our ongoing projects. Currently, the students are deep into preparing their final presentations for the \"Community Improvement Initiative,\" where they propose real solutions to local issues. We are utilizing the snacks to sustain energy during our focused working lunch sessions next week, ensuring they have the fuel needed to polish their research, fine-tune their speaking points, and practice their delivery. By meeting this basic need, you are directly contributing to their ability to engage in high-level critical thinking and showcase their best work. Thank you for giving our students the tangible support they need to thrive both academically and emotionally.","fullyFundedDate":1746786027078,"projectUrl":"project/motivation-matters-boosting-student-en/9132182/","projectTitle":"\"Motivation Matters: Boosting Student Engagement Through Incentives\"","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Jones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9915519_orig.jpg?crop=200,200,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741977740800","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9915519"},{"teacherId":9219387,"projectId":9126360,"letterContent":"When my students saw the snacks arrive, their faces lit up with excitement. Instead of just reading about scientific concepts, they could finally see, touch, and play around with them. One of our first projects was modeling plate tectonics using hands-on simulations. The students pushed foam blocks together to mimic convergent boundaries and pulled them apart to show divergent boundaries. Suddenly, what used to be an abstract idea in a textbook became something they could actually see and explain in their own words.\r\n\r\nTheir reactions were incredible—some gasped, some laughed in surprise, and others immediately started asking questions like, \"What if two continents collided instead of an ocean plate and a continent?\" That kind of curiosity carried over to our other lessons, like building circuits to learn about electricity. Students who used to hesitate were now excited to connect wires, test switches, and share their discoveries with each other.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students aren't just learning science; they're really experiencing it. They're turning into young scientists—asking questions, testing ideas, and sharing their findings with confidence. Next, we're diving into chemistry experiments where they'll explore chemical reactions and see how matter can change in cool, visible ways.\r\n\r\nYour support has transformed our classroom into a place of discovery, and now my students approach science with enthusiasm and confidence.
