With the gift card I was able to download and print educational posters to laminate and hang up around my classroom. We played our multiplication bingo for the first time this week. It was the most engaged with math I have seen them all year so far!! The bulletin board paper looks amazing in the room and I believe it helps make the room feel more loving, safe, and calm. Through your donation I was able to purchase activities through our Teachers Pay Teachers website to make learning fun. For example, a really cool way I got students to learn about poetry is by making an acrostic poem. I was able to purchase a file for mother's day where students got to describe their mom and answer some questions about her. Not only was making a poem more engaging because it was about somebody they loved but it carried a lot of meaning and I could not have done that without you. \r\nOne of the other items that was donated were markers. Using a pencil and paper gets old and a great way for our students to continue to want to learn is with white board or write and wipe activities where students get to practice their math and phonics skills. I have 100% more engagement when I am able to use different tools than the typical paper and pencil. \r\nMy students and I are so grateful for what has been given. As we prepare to close out the school year, I know your donations have made an impact in my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1739373208755,"projectUrl":"project/peer-learning/8968061/","projectTitle":"Peer Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Beltran","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7235114_orig.png?crop=272,272,x120,y113&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1595474228600","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7235114"},{"teacherId":8896238,"projectId":9106843,"letterContent":"This donation has completely turned our year around. My classroom in addition to many others on my campus were so invested in our butterfly project. The students got to \"babysit\" the caterpillars each day on their desks and we released them on two separate days because we had a couple kids absent the first day. My students got to spend a month slowly learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. \r\n\r\nThis was such a success that I plan to do this project again each year. I know these kids will remember this for their whole life. Our last butterfly stayed around for quite a while and the kids got to each hold onto an orange it was resting on. \r\n\r\nWe also created a class book about a magical butterfly named Sunny thanks to this experience. I am writing to express our deepest gratitude for your recent contribution to our classroom. Your generosity has brought so much joy and excitement to the children, and I wanted to share with you the wonderful impact your donation has had on their learning and development.\r\n\r\nThe new kitchen items have been a fantastic addition to our dramatic play area, sparking the children's imaginations and significantly enhancing their conversation skills. It's been amazing to see them engage in creative and collaborative play, pretending to cook meals and serve each other.\r\n\r\nThe baby dress-up clothes have quickly become a favorite among the students. They love pretending to take care of the baby dolls, which has fostered a sense of responsibility and nurtured their social interactions with their peers. It's heartwarming to watch them learn and grow through these simple yet meaningful activities.\r\n\r\nThe kinetic sand has also been a huge hit! The children are thoroughly enjoying the sensory experience, and it has been incredibly beneficial for developing their fine motor skills. Watching them play and explore with such enthusiasm has been truly rewarding.\r\n\r\nWe are so very grateful for your support and the difference it has made in our classroom. The children were beyond excited to receive everything, and their smiles and laughter have been the best thank-you we could ever ask for.\r\n\r\nThank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1728013044136,"projectUrl":"project/learning-through-play-in-tk/8534103/","projectTitle":"Learning Through Play in TK","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Buckelew","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4510593_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1498344202623","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mts-k-buckelew"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_32617","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":535,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":85,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":93,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"19.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":73.9,"schoolId":32617,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Martin Van Buren Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Martin Van Buren Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/desert-sands-unified-school-district/martin-van-buren-elementary-school/32617"}
