It is great to be able to point out on a map where we are studying as well as how the world is divided into different hemispheres. \r\n One of my favorite activities I do at the beginning of the year with my 8th grade students is the activity outlined in the book, where it asks to quickly draw an outline of the US at the time it gained independence from Britain and to introduce the topic of origin stories. It sets the backdrop for talking about how we need to look at history through multiple lenses and look at all sides. So far we have used the book in my 8th grade classes as part of our everyday texts. But I also plan on using the book in my world history class when we talk about the Americas and the origins of corn towards the end of the school year. \r\n Thank you again for allowing me to share this book with the class as well as providing a map for my students to study as we talk about different reginal areas. It has not only benefited my original goal of 8th grade classes but also my 7th grade classes as well.","fullyFundedDate":1758748537362,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-resources/9607357/","projectTitle":"Classroom Resources","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rigden","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7890499"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_76697","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":461,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":48,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":52,"percentIndigenous":10,"percentLatinx":18,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"24.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":63.6,"schoolId":76697,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Redwood Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Redwood Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/del-norte-county-unified-school-district/redwood-elementary-school/76697"}
