Many of my students can become overwhelmed by bright fluorescent lighting or distractions throughout the day, especially while trying to focus on reading and foundational literacy skills. The ceiling décor has helped soften the classroom atmosphere and create a space that feels more peaceful, comfortable, and safe for learning. Students immediately noticed the difference when they walked in and commented on how \"calm,\" \"cozy,\" and \"less stressful\" the classroom felt.\r\nThis project has also helped support student focus and engagement during independent reading, Lexia intervention time, small-group instruction, and classroom discussions. I have noticed students settling in more quickly and feeling more relaxed while working through challenging reading tasks. Creating a classroom environment where students feel comfortable and supported is especially important in a reading intervention setting, where many students already struggle with confidence in their academic abilities. Your generosity helped create a classroom space that supports not only learning, but also student well-being and confidence. These headphones have made a meaningful difference for my students during our reading intervention time. My students use the Lexia reading program daily to strengthen foundational reading skills such as phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Having access to their own headphones allows students to fully focus on the audio support and instructions provided through the program without distractions from the classroom around them. This has helped students stay more engaged, independent, and confident while working at their own learning level.\r\nOne of the most meaningful parts of this project is that every student now has equal access to the same tools and opportunities for learning. Many middle school students are very aware of differences between what they have and what others may have, so it was important to me that all students could use the same quality headphones kept safely in the classroom. This has helped create a more comfortable and inclusive learning environment where students can focus on their progress rather than worrying about not having supplies or feeling different from their peers.\r\nI have especially noticed students becoming more motivated and excited to work on Lexia because they are able to clearly hear directions, sounds, and reading passages. For students who struggle with reading or confidence in the classroom, this extra support has made a big impact. Thank you again for investing in my students and helping provide them with tools that support both their academic growth and confidence as learners.","fullyFundedDate":1767903464354,"projectUrl":"project/headphones-to-support-reading-success/9970624/","projectTitle":"Headphones to Support Reading Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Moreno","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10390884"},{"teacherId":10179016,"projectId":9952753,"letterContent":"This project had a meaningful impact on my students by helping create a calmer, more welcoming classroom environment where they feel safe and ready to learn. The softer lighting helps reduce distractions and overstimulation, while the ocean and forest themes create a soothing environment that helps students settle in more quickly and stay engaged during lessons. The \"You can do hard things\" banner has also become a powerful daily reminder, encouraging students to persevere and build confidence when learning feels challenging.\r\n\r\nI would like to give a special thank you to the donor for supporting our \"Creating a Calm Classroom\" project. With materials like microscope slides and science posters, students were able to engage more deeply with our lessons and make stronger connections to the content. Instead of just reading about scientific concepts, they were able to visualize and explore them in a more meaningful way.\r\n\r\nBecause of these resources, I was able to incorporate more interactive and inquiry-based activities into my teaching. Students used the microscope slides to observe and discuss real examples, which increased their curiosity and participation. The posters have also been a valuable reference tool during lessons, helping reinforce key concepts and vocabulary. Additionally, the charging station supplies have allowed us to keep our devices powered and ready, ensuring that we can consistently use technology as part of our learning.\r\n\r\nI would like to give a special thank you to all the donors and the Campbell Foundation for supporting our STEM classroom. When the supplies arrived, students were genuinely excited, especially about the markers and rulers. Many of them immediately asked when they would get to use them, and it made even simple activities feel more engaging and special.\r\n\r\nWe've already been using these materials in our daily lessons. For example, during a recent math activity, students used their rulers to measure and draw precise lines, which helped improve both their accuracy and confidence in their work. The markers have also been a huge hit during group activities and note-taking, allowing students to organize their thinking, highlight important information, and express their ideas more creatively. Having these tools readily available ensures that every student can fully participate without having to worry about not having what they need.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, these supplies will continue to support our learning across multiple subjects. Whether we are working on math projects, creating visual notes, or collaborating in groups, students now have the resources to stay engaged and do their best work. The finger guards played an important role as students carved intricate details allowing them to focus on creativity and precision, rather than worry about accidental cuts.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw and tried the finger guards, they were both amused and relieved. Many commented on how much safer and more confident they felt during the carving process. This extra sense of security encouraged them to be bolder with their design choices, resulting in vibrant, multi-colored prints that they were excited to share with the class.\r\n\r\nNext, students will reflect on their finished fruit prints and consider how layering colors can create depth and dimension in their artwork. We plan to build on these skills by introducing more complex subjects and encouraging students to experiment with color mixing and advanced carving techniques. The finger guards will remain a key resource, supporting continued exploration and creative growth in our art room.","fullyFundedDate":1763474816457,"projectUrl":"project/art-supplies/9638815/","projectTitle":"Art Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Marquez-Covington","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10214063_orig.jpg?crop=566,566,x1481,y580&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1763483778427","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10214063"},{"teacherId":9750338,"projectId":9636046,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for bringing our project, \"Charge Me Up,\" to life.\r\n\r\nAs an Apple School, technology is the heartbeat of our daily learning. While having 1:1 iPads is an incredible privilege, it comes with a very common challenge: keeping them powered. Chargers are easily lost, cables break, and students often arrive at school with a \"red battery\" icon, which stops their learning before it even begins.\r\n\r\nYour donation has completely solved this problem.\r\n\r\nNow that we have dedicated charging stations in the classroom, the \"low battery anxiety\" has disappeared. Students know exactly where to go if they need power. The impact has been immediate—many students have even started leaving their iPads in the classroom overnight to charge, ensuring they are ready to go the moment the bell rings the next morning.\r\n\r\nInstead of losing valuable instructional time hunting for spare cables or sitting on the floor next to a wall outlet, my students are seated at their desks, fully charged and engaged in the lesson.\r\n\r\nThank you for recognizing that for digital learning to work, we need the power to support it. We live in a small, tight-knit rural community. We don't have big box stores around the corner; for many of us, getting access to basic educational materials is a logistical challenge. Furthermore, with many families in our area living below the poverty line, the cost of school supplies is often a burden that parents simply cannot bear.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes arrived, it was more than just a delivery of notebooks and pencils; it was a delivery of relief.\r\n\r\nThe excitement in the room was palpable. My students were overjoyed to have fresh supplies of their own. But what touched me the most was the spirit of generosity your gift sparked in them. After passing out the materials, a few students quietly approached my desk. They asked if they could take a pencil or a notebook home to a younger sibling who didn't have any school supplies.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, I was able to say \"yes.\"\r\n\r\nYour donation did not just equip a desk; it supported entire families and lifted a weight off our community's shoulders. They are huge fans of the break area. \r\n\r\nNow, when students need a short break, they can go to the corner, flip the sand timer, and spend a few quiet minutes watching the tank, coloring, or using the emotions poster to identify how they're feeling.
