We use the new sensory and fidget materials during independent work, small-group lessons, and transitions to help students stay focused and calm. One moment that stood out was during a science activity, when students used the sensory tubes to observe, describe, and make predictions—students who usually struggle to stay engaged were fully involved and eager to share their thinking. The flexible seating supports, like chair bands and fidgets, have also helped reduce distractions and allowed students to participate more successfully in lessons.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate. They felt seen and supported, especially students who benefit from hands-on or movement-based tools. Several students shared that the fidgets helped them feel less anxious and more ready to learn. The snack items and reward chest have also helped create a positive classroom culture, reinforcing effort, teamwork, and good choices in a way that feels motivating rather than punitive.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue using these resources to support upcoming science investigations and social-emotional learning activities, especially as we work on collaboration and self-regulation skills. These materials will remain part of our daily routine, helping students build confidence, focus, and independence. Thank you for giving my students the tools they need to feel comfortable, engaged, and successful every day.","fullyFundedDate":1763474843105,"projectUrl":"project/from-numbers-to-newton-sparking-curios/9726278/","projectTitle":"“From Numbers to Newton: Sparking Curiosity in Every Lesson”","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Padilla","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10268563_orig.jpg?crop=344,344,x56,y172&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758217044614","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10268563"},{"teacherId":4972950,"projectId":9313845,"letterContent":"Thank you once again for your generous support! While our original quest to launch the first-ever world mythology elective at our school took a turn that even the Fates couldn't predict, the idea is far from gone. There's still a promising chance that it may be added next school year — our new principal is very enthusiastic about it — but in the meantime, we've transformed the idea into the new Myths & Legends Club. 🐲🦄⚔️\r\n\r\nI currently host club meetings in my room during two lunches each week. Our 8th-grade group is working on becoming dragon loremasters, exploring legends from cultures around the world, from Ryujin to Quetzalcoatl to Bakunawa and beyond. Our 6th graders are diving into the world of Greek mythology and are eager to learn more about the gods and goddesses, heroes, and magical creatures of Ancient Greece.\r\n\r\nBoth groups are already thinking of creative ways to share what they've learned with the wider school community, and I'm excited to see what their mythic imaginations come up with next.\r\n\r\nThank you again for supporting this adventure.
