These materials arrived right at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and they became a true game-changer for my students. During online learning, we used math tiles in virtual lessons to make abstract concepts like addition, subtraction, and fractions hands-on and interactive, even from home. I'll never forget their excitement when they first opened their kits; several students proudly held them up to the camera, eager to start solving problems. The tiles helped bridge the gap between screen-based learning and tactile understanding, keeping students engaged and giving them a concrete way to practice their skills. Today, we're building on that foundation with more complex problem-solving, and my students are approaching math with greater confidence and enthusiasm than ever before.","fullyFundedDate":1576180581741,"projectUrl":"project/making-math-fun-accessible/4590192/","projectTitle":"Making Math Fun & Accessible","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Avina","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6914943_orig.jpg?crop=370,370,x0,y61&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1571981117677","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6914943"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_73913","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":938,"numTeachers":50,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":97,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 9","studentTeacherRatio":"18.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":78.3,"schoolId":73913,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Toro Canyon Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Toro Canyon Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/coachella-valley-unified-school-district/toro-canyon-middle-school/73913"}
