My students were so excited when they saw all the big books we got for our classroom and couldn't wait to start reading. \r\n\r\nWe have used the story big books to review characters, setting, and comprehension. These books have allowed my students to really get a better understanding of the story through the bigger text font and pictures. \r\n\r\nWe are currently using the word family big books and these have been so valuable for their learning. We just finished learning about all the short vowel sounds and my students are reading and writing consonant vowel consonant words. These books have been a perfect way to end each vowel unit. We read the book together, look for words in the book and then create a \"short vowel word family\" poster based on what we read in the book. This in turn has also supported our work with rhyming words. \r\n\r\nThese are only a few examples of how we are using the books in our classroom to develop my students' love of reading. Once again, thank you so much for your donation. Students engage daily as we review the calendar, count our days in school, identify colors, discuss the months of the year, and explore the seasons. Having these materials laminated means they are durable, reusable, and will continue benefiting future classes for years to come.\r\n\r\nThe laminations have also allowed us to create a clear visual schedule and interactive center activities. These tools help build independence and confidence, as students can easily follow along and take ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nThe photo box bins have made a tremendous difference in keeping our materials organized by theme. Our centers are now easy to manage and accessible, allowing for smoother transitions and more focused learning time.\r\n\r\nWe are especially grateful for the manipulatives. Students use them every Monday and Friday during hands-on learning time. It is incredible to watch their creativity shine as they build, design, and collaborate with one another. These materials have strengthened problem-solving skills, teamwork, and imaginative play.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our classroom is now a joyful, engaging space where learning is meaningful. You have helped us foster a growth mindset and create rich, play-based experiences that support the whole child.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our kindergarteners and believing in the power of learning through play.","fullyFundedDate":1763474845553,"projectUrl":"project/help-our-kindergarteners-learn-through-p/9792674/","projectTitle":"Help Our Kindergarteners Learn Through Play!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. A.Vargas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9592938_orig.jpg?crop=2200,2200,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1728257296837","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9592938"},{"teacherId":10086375,"projectId":9483035,"letterContent":"Thanks to you, my class is able to experience a more relaxed setting. On a daily basis, we come in from our afternoon recess exhausted and sometimes excited because we know we are near the end of the day. The last hour of the day can be the longest of the entire day. Students come in, grab a pillow, then make their way to the whole group carpet area, and get ready to relax. The lights in the class are dim and quiet music is playing, as we use this time to calm our bodies down and relax. Before we had our pillows, it was hard to relax on the hard ground. After a two to three minute cool down, we are reset and ready to listen. Students now have comfort for quiet resting time, and for story time. We transition from resting into active ears listening as we enjoy a story read by the teacher. Students sit up on the pillows or hug them for comfort. The materials you provided have already made a meaningful difference in our classroom, and we are so grateful.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the lamination sheets to create reusable mini-lessons that students can interact with during small group and independent learning time. With the help of pocket charts and clip charts, students practice phonics, math facts, and sentence-building in a hands-on way that keeps them engaged and motivated. One of our favorite moments so far was during a reading rotation—students excitedly took turns clipping the correct word endings to laminated root words, cheering each other on and celebrating every success.\r\n\r\nThe bookshelf has helped bring calm and order to our guided reading area. Books are now easy to find and beautifully displayed, making it much smoother to plan and conduct small group reading instruction. It's become a little corner of excitement, where students eagerly ask, \"What are we reading today?\"\r\n\r\nThe whiteboards and markers have quickly become a staple during whole group lessons. Whether we're solving addition problems together or practicing sight words, every child gets to participate actively. The first time we handed them out, you should have seen their faces—eyes wide, huge smiles, and so many enthusiastic \"thank yous.\" One student whispered, \"We have our own boards now? This is awesome!\"\r\n\r\nRight now, we are working on building CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) word families and practicing writing complete sentences. Thanks to your support, students can write, erase, and try again without fear of making a mistake. Our next steps include combining word work with sentence building to create short stories. These tools will help us continue building strong foundations in both reading and writing.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has brought more than just supplies—it has brought excitement, confidence, and a greater love for learning.
