My students were so excited when they found out that our old pencil sharpener was being replaced with one that worked well and quickly! And there were really moved that it was coming from people that believe in them and us even if they don't know us personally! They also were so grateful and proud that they had the supplies they needed with glue sticks to support their learning and development of their notebook skills. \r\n\r\nMy students have also been learning this year about the importance of cleanliness and organization as a tool for learning and developing a space of pride and calm. The wipes, hand sanitizer, and tissues have been critical to supporting their physical and academic health. \r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you for your support of my students and me. Your contribution has made a lasting impact on my students, and I am so grateful for your investment in their learning and growth.\r\n\r\nReceiving these books has brought excitement, curiosity, and a renewed love for reading into our classroom. For many of my students, Hatchet is the first novel they've truly connected with—its themes of resilience, survival, and self-discovery resonate deeply with them. They have eagerly immersed themselves in Brian's journey, asking thoughtful questions, making personal connections, and engaging in rich discussions that have elevated their reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. And once they had the experience with the first book, they were thrilled to find out there were four more books in the series! \r\n\r\nThe shared experience of reading Hatchet together has fostered a stronger classroom community. Students who were once hesitant readers now participate with enthusiasm, and it's been incredibly rewarding to witness their confidence grow with each chapter. Many have even expressed interest in reading more of Gary Paulsen's books—a testament to the power of putting the right story in their hands.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our students have not only gained access to a high-quality literary work but also an opportunity to see themselves as capable and engaged readers. Your support goes far beyond the pages of a book—it nurtures a love of reading that will continue to shape their educational journeys.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our students and helping to create such a meaningful learning experience.","fullyFundedDate":1747280897647,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-continue-student-driven-book-clu/9061823/","projectTitle":"Help Us Continue Student Driven Book Clubs!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Demro","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp433230_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723723139780","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-demro"},{"teacherId":433230,"projectId":8975442,"letterContent":"What a difference your donation has made for my classroom and our book clubs! Your generosity meant that students have been even more excited to participate in this with such great titles. \r\n\r\nBrian's Winter has been a particular hit with multiple groups because we just finished Hatchet earlier this quarter, and students have been so excited to continue with it. They have loved seeing an alternate story had it ended a different way. \r\n\r\nMax the Mighty was also one that students literally cheered when they saw it come out of the box. Here is what some of our students said about the experience.\r\n\r\n\"It was fun because we got to tear them apart, and everyone was screaming at first! Some people were scared to touch the bones, but it was no big deal for me. It was fun to find all those bones! I learned that owl pellets are cool.\" -S. They were cheering and regularly work together on projects involving these STEM skills! \r\n\r\nThe kits have already provided engaging and hands-on learning experiences that have sparked creativity, evolved critical thinking, and enhanced problem-solving skills. These kits have allowed them to have hands on experiences which they crave! They also allow students to physically build and experiment with circuits. \r\n\r\nI also have noticed students experimenting to create their own circuits, and I already see their creativity and innovation. They are also being introduced to the basic principles of engineering, physics, and technology. This aligns with the STEM education we are focused on and which is crucial for their future learning and career paths.\r\n\r\nOne of the most immediate impacts is on boosting student confidence and motivation. Each time they successfully complete a circuit or experiment gives my students a sense of achievement, celebration, and seems to boost their self-confidence.
