My second year of teaching has felt much smoother than my first, which has been such a welcome change—and is largely due to your guys' support! \r\n\r\nWith your guys' donations, my room feels so much more structured, which has helped not only boost my confidence, but more importantly, students' engagement with our learning. I have been able to come in, instantly connect my computer to a monitor (which has helped SO much with grading essays!), use our speaker when showing videos, and give students a much cleaner classroom with the Clorox wipes and hand sanitizer. I've also been able to pass multiple pencils out to students, and haven't had to use old, dried out Expo markers well past when they should have been tossed. We've had such great conversations and analyzed many texts this year.\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you so much for your support! I already see my results improving with students. The classroom environment is such an important one to make inviting and safe, and I am grateful that you all have helped make mine even better.","fullyFundedDate":1754519674851,"projectUrl":"project/boost-stem-learning-in-mr-huxells-clas/9521015/","projectTitle":"Boost STEM Learning in Mr. Huxell’s Class!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Huxell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10103645_orig.jpg?crop=2090,2090,x0,y654&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754457209149","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10103645"},{"teacherId":9926553,"projectId":9548215,"letterContent":"Since receiving this generous donation, my students have been able to have the proper resources to make engaging projects and collaborate with their peers. They allow students to construct lines, angles, and shapes with precision, bringing our lessons to life in a hands-on, engaging way. Students are using the whiteboards daily for vertical thinking activities, where they collaborate in small groups to solve challenging problems and share their reasoning with the class. One of my favorite moments was watching students rotate through stations, using Post-its to leave feedback and build on each other's ideas. It has created such a thoughtful and engaging learning environment. When the materials first arrived, students were genuinely excited. They immediately began brainstorming all the ways we could use them. We have also used the whiteboards for different unit's one-pagers, allowing students to visually capture and connect key concepts. We plan to continue to use these easels each day for either warmup or engaging activities such as review games and more. I have noticed students have especially loved using the easels during any extra tutoring. Students love to be able to easily erase mistakes and correct them on a whiteboard rather than using paper and pen. We are so lucky to have all of these resources. They have truly transformed our classroom into a more interactive and creative space for learning.","fullyFundedDate":1755753972786,"projectUrl":"project/white-boards-a-safe-space-for-students/9538173/","projectTitle":"White Boards: a Safe Space for Students to Work","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bechard","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9926830_orig.jpg?crop=2177,2177,x332,y1401&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754362846426","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9926830"},{"teacherId":9781794,"projectId":9262627,"letterContent":"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! In addition, our students have options to play with fidgets, Legos, puzzles, meditation coloring, and more if they choose to use any of those tools for a mental break. \r\n\r\nAlso, our chess president, vice president, and team were so excited to receive their new chess boards. Initially, we assumed the club might have to start playing chess virtually, and we weren't sure if they would be able to start their club with physical chess sets in time. Your support has made a real difference in my classroom, turning math into something tangible and fun for my students.\r\n\r\nOne of their favorite activities was using measuring tapes and protractors to calculate each other's height. Instead of just measuring, we applied trigonometry, and they had a blast! Sine, cosine, and tangent ratios were no longer just for triangles on worksheets. Some students' height calculations were way off, and while they thought it was hilarious, it gave them the chance to improve their precision. We then extended this learning to calculate the height of our school building by making clinometers, all thanks to your donation! I'm so grateful that trigonometry wasn't just something on the paper for my students—it's something they experienced firsthand.\r\n\r\nYour donation also funded multiple puzzle piece activities that encouraged my students to collaborate and think critically together.
