Students use the alphabet stamps to form letters, practice letter–sound connections, and build simple words (like their names), strengthening both fine motor and early literacy skills. The magnetic tiles are used for open-ended building, where students design cars, ramps, and structures while practicing problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were beyond excited. They immediately wanted to explore how the stamps worked and began naming letters and sounds as they pressed them into the Play-Doh. During building time, students eagerly worked together to create vehicles and structures, sharing ideas and experimenting with different designs.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue using these materials to deepen their learning by connecting letter-building activities to phonics lessons and expanding STEM challenges. They will plan, test, and improve their magnetic tile designs, while reflecting on what works and why. These resources are helping create meaningful, joyful learning experiences that keep students engaged and motivated.","fullyFundedDate":1745778681664,"projectUrl":"project/playful-learning-letters-and-exploratio/9045165/","projectTitle":"Playful Learning: Letters and Exploration","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Garcia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8646514_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y602&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661806342364","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8646514"},{"teacherId":8646514,"projectId":9203582,"letterContent":"The calming corner supplies are being used daily to support students with self-regulation and emotional awareness. Students independently choose tools like fidgets, sensory items, and visual calming cards when they feel overwhelmed. One meaningful moment was when a student recognized they were feeling frustrated when having to share materials and asked to use the calming corner. After a few minutes, they returned to the activity focused and confident, ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThe students were excited and curious when they first saw the new materials. They immediately wanted to explore how each item worked and asked thoughtful questions about when and how to use them. Many students expressed how the tools made them feel calm and safe, which helped set a positive tone for the classroom.\r\n\r\nThe next steps involve teaching students to identify their emotions more independently and choose appropriate strategies from the calming corner. We are connecting these tools to social-emotional learning lessons, helping students reflect on how self-regulation supports their academic growth. As students continue building these skills, they are becoming more confident, engaged learners who are better prepared to collaborate and focus during classroom activities.","fullyFundedDate":1746548253079,"projectUrl":"project/calming-corners-a-safe-space-to-reset-a/9203582/","projectTitle":"Calming Corners: A Safe Space to Reset and Refocus","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Garcia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8646514_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y602&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661806342364","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8646514"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_73518","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":555,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":20,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":69,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":9,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"25.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":80.1,"schoolId":73518,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Rosedale Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Rosedale Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/chico-unified-school-district/rosedale-elementary-school/73518"}
