Your support has made an immediate and lasting impact on our students.\r\n\r\nThis year, our school adopted a phone-free policy to help students stay focused and engaged in their learning. While the change has been overwhelmingly positive, it also created new challenges in subjects like chemistry, where calculators are essential tools. Without access to their phones, students were left without a way to complete calculations for labs, data analysis, and problem-solving activities.\r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, our students now have the resources they need at their fingertips. Instead of worrying about how they will complete their work, they can focus on learning the science behind the numbers. The calculators have already been used for lab experiments, balancing chemical equations, and exploring energy concepts—giving students the chance to practice real-world problem solving without barriers.\r\n\r\nYour donation is helping us build a classroom where every student has equal access to success. Beyond just solving math problems, these calculators represent opportunity, equity, and the confidence to take on challenging material. The galaxy star projector has made a huge difference—students often comment on how relaxing the atmosphere feels now, and it's helped create a more focused learning environment, especially for those who struggle with distractions. After we finish key assignments or assessments, students look forward to our \"game days,\" using the mental health and team-building games you helped provide. These moments give students a chance to unwind, connect with each other, and build social-emotional skills in a fun, low-pressure way.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were genuinely excited. Many of them have never had access to resources like this in a classroom setting, so their reactions were filled with curiosity and gratitude. One student said, \"This is my favorite class because I feel calm and at peace while I'm here.\" These are students who have faced academic and personal setbacks, but they're showing up, putting in the work, and starting to believe in their ability to succeed—and your support reinforces that belief.\r\n\r\nNext, we're continuing to use the games as a way to celebrate progress and build classroom community. As we move into more writing and presentation-based assignments, these tools are helping students manage anxiety and build the confidence to share their voices. I have been spending time in class explaining what a 3D printer is and what it can do. There have been occasions when students are doing group work when the printer has been printing out an object so they have been able to see it in operation. Many have been fascinated with what the printer can do. Some students have submitted ideas from the Thingiverse website so I can show examples of objects students are interested in. The most recent student to do this told me he wanted to print out a Manatee to give to his niece since this was her favorite animal (you can pick out the 3 Manatees in the photos).\r\n\r\nThe goal now is to find students who want to invest some time learning how to use this technology and in doing so not only give themselves a diversion to release stress, but also allow them to add a very useful skill to their future resumes. I have finally found online design tools, Tinkercad and Onshape, that are free to my students and will work on our class Chromebooks. So the journey begins...\r\n\r\nThank you for providing this opportunity for students to engage in a healthy and productive activity.
