One student shared that coloring in the Calm Corner helped them calm their nerves before a quiz, which was a proud moment of self-regulation for both the student and our classroom community.\r\n\r\nHow did your students react when they first saw the materials?\r\nThe students were so excited when they first saw the new resources. Their faces lit up as they explored the sensory tools, and many commented on how inviting and cozy the space felt. Several students immediately asked if they could try the stress balls and journals, and it was clear how much they valued having a safe space just for them.\r\n\r\nWhat are the next steps for your students on a current classroom lesson or project?\r\nOur next steps are to integrate the Calm Corner more intentionally into our social-emotional learning lessons. Students will practice using the space to identify emotions, explore calming strategies, and build coping skills they can carry into everyday life. This will also support our larger classroom projects, where students work in groups and need to navigate collaboration and problem-solving with calm and focus.","fullyFundedDate":1743461138163,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-thriving-learning-space-cla/9220281/","projectTitle":"\"Creating a Thriving Learning Space: Classroom Supplies for Success!\"","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Reyes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9740940_orig.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726077451353","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9740940"},{"teacherId":7018310,"projectId":9307958,"letterContent":"Thank you for your kind generosity and donations. Students collaborated in small groups, using the whiteboards to map out the complex process of DNA replication and to match complementary base pairs. This interactive approach not only enhanced their understanding but also promoted teamwork and communication skills. The foam cubes provided a tactile method for students to visualize and contextualize molecular structures. By constructing models of DNA strands, students could better grasp the spatial relationships and functions of nucleotides. This hands-on experience made abstract concepts more concrete and accessible. \r\n\r\nYour support has made a significant impact on our students' learning experiences. After completing our yearbook on March 18, the energy in the room didn't fade—it transformed. With the new games and resources you helped provide, our classroom has become a hub of joy, connection, and laughter.\r\n\r\nEvery day since finishing our big project, students have been diving into the board games and card games during class time. What started as a way to unwind after a major accomplishment has become a daily tradition that's building stronger bonds than ever before. I've seen students who rarely spoke before suddenly teaming up, strategizing, and cheering each other on. It's brought out their personalities, their humor, and their kindness in ways that have completely reshaped our classroom dynamic.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments? Watching a group of quiet students erupt into laughter over an intense game of Uno, then watching them stay after class just to keep the fun going. Even I've joined in the games—something they love—and those shared moments have brought us closer as a class.\r\n\r\nThese games are doing more than bringing joy—they're laying the foundation for next year's yearbook. As students form tighter friendships, their collaboration and communication are naturally strengthening. I'm so excited to see how this will translate into our next yearbook project. I genuinely believe the creativity and teamwork will be even stronger thanks to the connections they're building now.\r\n\r\nAnd the best part? These games aren't just for this year. They've become a lasting part of our classroom culture. I'm thrilled to keep them around for years to come, knowing they'll continue to spark connection, laughter, and a deeper sense of community.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving us more than materials—you gave us moments, memories, and a stronger classroom family. When the new colored safety goggles and glasses, conductivity probes, and math balance arrived, my students were beyond excited, especially for the colored goggles. The moment they saw the fun, colored goggles, they immediately started picking their favorites, and for the first time in a long time, there were no complaints about wearing them during labs—just excitement. Even now, 3 months later, students are still wearing the goggles and glasses at a higher rate than ever before in my teaching career. This simple choice has helped create a safer and more engaging lab experience, reducing anxiety and making students feel more comfortable as they dive into hands-on experiments. Also, it saves me from having to repeat myself each period to wear their goggles. \r\n\r\nThe conductivity probes have already given use better data for our labs. Before, broken equipment meant students collected inconsistent data, leading to frustration and doubt about their understanding. Now, they can confidently measure conductivity and see the results clearly, making the learning process smoother and more rewarding. We just starting using them last week for acids and bases and will continue to use them after spring break. \r\n\r\nThe math balance has also been a game-changer in helping students grasp the complexities of equilibrium. When we used it to model Le Chatelier's Principle, I could see lightbulbs going off as students connected abstract concepts to a tangible, visual tool. It's been incredible to watch their confidence grow as they work through challenging topics with the right support. This is the first year that I did not hear major confusions for Le Chatelier's Principle and I honestly do think that it was because of the math balance. \r\n\r\nThese materials have not only improved our labs but have also made a lasting impact on my students' confidence and mental well-being for this year and years to come.
