Your contribution has already made a significant, visible impact on my students' learning experience. The moment they saw the new materials, a wave of smiles went across the room. These markers are being put to excellent use for several ongoing projects that help reinforce both their ASL comprehension and their productive signing skills. Our primary focus in ASL II has been to learn vocabulary terms about residences and communities. Students have used the markers to color-code various locations on a team-created map of their own imaginary town. This hands-on, visual approach is proving to be a highly effective way for them to connect ASL location signs with real-world places. The markers offer a variety of opportunities to learn vocabulary rather than solely using a \"copy and memorize\" format of learning. It gives me the freedom to give students the power to drive their learning, rather than using a \"sage on the stage\" teaching style.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are excited to integrate these high-quality markers into a variety of engaging future activities. One planned project is a guided coloring activity for ASL I students. I will sign a story for the students. Then, to check their understanding, I will sign true or false questions from the story for students to color the correct parts of an image. For example, if the statement is true, \"color the sun yellow\"; if it is false, \"color the sun orange\". When the entire picture is colored in, they compare their work with mine to see if they chose the right answers. Another assignment we plan to incorporate is creating ASL Classifier Storyboards. Classifiers are essential components of ASL grammar used to show the size, shape, movement, and location of a person or object. Students will use the markers to draw a sequence of panels, effectively creating a comic strip or storyboard, where they illustrate a short narrative using and labeling the correct ASL classifiers in the drawing. This will allow them to visually plan and articulate an ASL story, reinforcing a complex grammatical concept in a creative, low-stress environment.\r\n\r\nYour donation has supplied the students with the tools they need to make their learning process more dynamic, colorful, and engaging. They are not just coloring; they are actively building their communication and cognitive skills through interactive and visual assignments. Thank you once again for your dedication to supporting our students' ASL education. We are deeply appreciative of your kindness and generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1757683154951,"projectUrl":"project/asl-classroom-receptive-skills-markers/9552348/","projectTitle":"ASL Classroom Receptive Skills Markers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Brittney Hernandez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9692428"},{"teacherId":5019372,"projectId":8882955,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to my classroom project which provided a new Apple imac for our students to use. I am now able to screen cast from the imac to our projector and student can see as I mark up the score with notes. Additionally we are able to use better recording audio programs that are only offered on mac computers.
