Because of your generosity, my sixth graders at Calistoga Elementary School no longer have to wait for our designated \"library day\" to find their next great read. The moment a student finishes a book, they can walk right over to our classroom shelves and find a high-interest graphic novel that excites them. This \"right book, right time\" access is the heartbeat of our classroom library, ensuring that the momentum of a finishing a story isn't lost to a week of waiting.\r\n\r\nThis immediate access is especially critical as we launch our school-wide reading competitions this week. Our classroom is currently a buzz of activity; reading in our room looks like students reading daily and sharing their favorite books and stories with each other. Often racing to see who can finish the next installment of a series. While graphic novels are often celebrated for being \"fun,\" they are also powerful teaching tools. These texts require my students to master complex visual literacy—synthesizing dialogue with character expressions and artistic notes to make deep inferences. For my more reluctant readers, these books have provided the necessary \"hook\" to build the reading stamina required for middle school success.\r\n\r\nThe impact on individual students has been profound. I have several students who previously struggled to stay engaged during independent reading time; now, they are the first ones at the shelf, eager to discuss the plot twists in their latest graphic novel. Your support hasn't just provided books; it has fueled a genuine love for reading that is transforming our classroom culture. Thank you for investing in our students and helping them see themselves as lifelong readers!","fullyFundedDate":1762840337874,"projectUrl":"project/panel-by-panel-power-up-stocking-our-li/9861497/","projectTitle":"Panel by Panel Power-Up! These magnetic boards are a valuable resource for our students, providing a hands-on tool for our phonetic reading lessons. It is through the kindness of local partners like you at Lewis Cellars that we are able to provide these meaningful learning experiences. \r\n Our resources are being used daily during our reading group time and weekly during our whole-class reading instruction. It is so nice to have relevant materials to support our lessons. It has brought a new level of excitement, allowing students to actively participate in their learning.
