With your donations I was able to get materials that have helped me plan varied social emotional learning activities. The class period I have with the 6th grade class tends to have a time allotted for Social Emotional Learning. The students tend to ask when they have my class because they look forward to the SEL time. \r\nThe two favorite activities they have had so far has been their journaling time and creating figures with the air dry clay. They are so focused during this time that that they sometimes do not want to go to their break. One instance when that happened was when the students first got their journals and were able to decorate them. By the time the class was over, there were some students who wanted to stay in during their break to finish decorating. \r\nThis time has helped to motivate them to complete their work. They are able to have these activities available to them thanks to all the donors. You all have ensured that the students know that people not only care about how they do academically but also care about their social emotional development.","fullyFundedDate":1758856140396,"projectUrl":"project/middle-school-social-emotional-learning/9754269/","projectTitle":"Middle School Social Emotional Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Amelia Martinez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/classroom-martinez"},{"teacherId":9696662,"projectId":9546325,"letterContent":"Your contribution to this project has been transformational. At the end of the day the seniors have a study hall which they use to do work and plan for senior fundraisers and activities. In all that they tend to be very stressed. Since receiving the items from the project they have had a chance to be able to enjoy more community building during that time. They have had a chance to get creative with the clay that we received and have been able to use get together more often to play games. Also by the end of the day there are many students who get hungry and may not have snacks of their own, so they have been able to enjoy the snacks that were sent.\r\n\r\nThe students were very appreciative when they saw the items that were sent. Once the items arrived at the school they happily volunteered to help organized. Influenced by the those who gave to them, they have demonstrated the same as they share with other students in the school. The material that we received had definitely made the social emotional time at the end of the day more enjoyable for the students. Students tend to ask more individual questions after having read the chapters. When we had a unit test, the textbook was used by the students to work on their study guides. The book has been a helpful addition to ensure that the students are able to comprehend the topics, specially in a class like AP Psychology where there is a lot of new information for students to process. \r\n\tTeaching 11th grade, one of the skills that I want to make sure that I help them develop is critical reading and reading for understanding.
