As we read, we focus on identifying key themes, exploring new vocabulary, and tracking character growth. The stories also give us great opportunities to talk about important life lessons like kindness, courage, and making good choices; all in ways that feel meaningful and age-appropriate for 3rd graders.\r\n In our classroom, reading is a shared and thoughtful experience. We read about two chapters of our book each day, pausing often to have in-depth conversations. Students love discussing the themes, making predictions, and connecting the story to their own lives. These moments of discussion help them build strong comprehension skills and confidence in expressing their ideas. Our classroom feels like a community of readers—curious, engaged, and eager to see what happens next in the story!\r\n Some students who were once hesitant readers are now excited to participate because they're so invested in the story. One student, for example, always reminds us where we left off and eagerly shares her thoughts about what the characters might do next. Others are using the new vocabulary from our discussions in their own writing and conversations. It's been amazing to see their enthusiasm and growth. These books have truly brought reading to life for our class.","fullyFundedDate":1752064019915,"projectUrl":"project/the-wild-robot-builds-literacy/9448783/","projectTitle":"The Wild Robot.. On behalf of our entire class, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your generous donation through DonorsChoose. The amazing alphabet materials you provided have already made a meaningful impact in our classroom.\r\nOur special education students are absolutely loving the hands-on learning experience these resources bring. It's incredible to see their faces light up with excitement and curiosity as they explore the alphabet in fun, interactive ways. These materials are not only engaging but are also helping to reinforce foundational literacy skills in a way that truly connects with our students.\r\nMore than just the items themselves, your support means so much. It sends a powerful message that every child matters — that every student deserves the tools to learn, grow, and thrive. The color printer has provided the use of making stories such as social narratives to help initiate play at recess and asking friends to play. In addition we just finished a curriculum on zoo animals. I think this was the most impactful month of curriculum. Not only did the students gravitate towards the lessons because of the animals I was able to color print multiple puzzles. Puzzles that consisted of zoo animals but had the alphabet on the bottom so that it hit academic as well as sensory. The biggest hit has been the sensory fish tank. The kids absolutely love it. So much so that some students even try to catch the fish. The plastic fish swim around and it even has changing color lights. We have seen definite progress in colors and emotions with the puzzles and other toys provided as well.\r\n\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you for your donation. I was truly moved, and I see the impact of the items on our students daily in class. It is wonderful to have such a warm community of people who are committed to supporting education. Your kindness inspires all of us and encourages the positivity of academics and kindness inside the classroom and our community.\r\n\r\nSending lots of smiles your way!","fullyFundedDate":1736106056535,"projectUrl":"project/break-me-off-a-piece-of-that-sensory-bar/8910048/","projectTitle":"Break Me Off a Piece Of That Sensory Bar","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Swain","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9645275_orig.jpg?crop=1263,1263,x94,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1730261375605","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9645275"},{"teacherId":3068199,"projectId":8945405,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity!
