During our final in-person ELA class of the year, each of my 8th-grade students received their own copy of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, a beautiful book filled with hope, wisdom, and quiet strength. Inside each book, I included a personalized message and a reminder to never forget the power of words. The looks on their faces said everything, as they expressed how much it meant to receive such a personal and thoughtful gift.\r\n\r\nFor my 5th through 8th grade homeroom students, I have been meeting with each one individually to give them their hand-selected book, chosen to match their personality, passions, and dreams. From artists to athletes, budding chefs to future historians, every student received a title that says, \"I see you.\" Each book includes a handwritten message of gratitude and encouragement just for them.\r\n\r\nThese small but meaningful moments have left a lasting impact. Your support helped me give them more than a book, but a reminder that words matter and so do they. Thank you for helping me send my students into summer, and for some, into high school, with something so meaningful and inspiring.","fullyFundedDate":1746468222097,"projectUrl":"project/books-that-say-you-matter/9284877/","projectTitle":"Books that Say, \"You Matter!\"","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Verboom","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6539741_orig.jpg?crop=1071,1071,x69,y57&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1573970927853","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/verboom"},{"teacherId":6539741,"projectId":9080241,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your support of the Motivation Matters: Prizes to Inspire project! Your generosity has brought excitement and creativity to my virtual homeroom sessions and ELA classes, creating new ways to engage my students and celebrate their efforts.\r\n\r\nThough for homeroom we only meet once a week online, these prizes have added a tangible sense of reward and connection for my students. They've already had the opportunity to select from the prizes you helped provide, and it's been such a joy to see their faces light up with excitement! One student proudly built the block horse featured in pictures uploaded for this project—just one example of how these prizes have sparked joy and creativity.\r\n\r\nThese rewards have also encouraged students to participate more fully in our weekly activities, from improving their typing skills to diving into team challenges and community-building exercises. It's incredible to see how something as simple as a prize can inspire such enthusiasm and dedication, even in a virtual environment.\r\n\r\nYour contribution will also allow us to recognize and celebrate the hard work and creativity of our ELA students at the end of this unit in a truly meaningful way. By awarding copies of \"The Book Thief\" to those with the most outstanding final projects, we'll not only honor their academic achievements but also encourage a lifelong passion for literature and storytelling. Your kindness is making this special recognition possible, and we are deeply grateful for the impact you're having on our students' learning journey.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and helping me make our virtual homeroom sessions and ELA classes even more engaging and meaningful.
