I created a display with the new books and -- whoosh -- they were almost all checked out on that first day! \r\n\r\nReading books in a series is such a great way to keep kids engaged with reading -- those cliffhangers create so much suspense and kids are driven to find out what happens next! By filling in missing books, we can keep that positive energy and momentum going. The more kids read books they are excited about, the deeper their sense of themselves as readers -- and the more likely they are to keep reading as they grow up.\r\n\r\nThanks again for your contributions to the Thousand Oaks Library. Within minutes, they all got snatched up by kids grateful not to have to wait for their favorite read any longer. \r\n\r\nOf course, I had held a few books behind my desk for the students who always struggle to find something to check out from the library. \"How about a dragon book?\" I whispered conspiratorially to Flynn. \"Aren't you into Pokemon?\" I asked Rodrigo.
