We immediately began a cooking lesson where students worked together to prepare macaroni and cheese. Some students measured and mixed, while others set the table and helped with cleanup. Their smiles and sense of accomplishment showed how meaningful it was for them to take part in the whole process.\r\n\r\nThe aprons made them feel like real chefs, and they were proud to wash and iron them afterward as part of the routine. For many of my students, these small steps are big milestones that build independence and confidence. The towels and buckets have already turned cleanup time into a learning opportunity, and students are practicing responsibility by taking ownership of keeping our classroom kitchen neat.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students are learning skills they can use at home and in their futures. Our next steps will be to expand these lessons into more cooking projects, like preparing simple salads and baking cakes, so students can continue practicing teamwork, daily living skills, and independence. Your support has made a lasting difference in their lives, and we are so grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1663668566041,"projectUrl":"project/cooking-things-up-in-the-classroom/6844891/","projectTitle":"Cooking Things Up In The Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Yanez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8707284"},{"teacherId":9633130,"projectId":8576729,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting my classroom and for taking a leap of faith with the donations. The equipment you allowed us to get has let students learn the proper way to bat and given them plenty of time to build muscle memory by repetition using the tees and nets. Students have become better equipped to play and compete in softball games. \r\nStudent were excited to se the new equipment and couldn't wait to use it. Of course they had to wait as they had to learn how to put it up and take it down first. They had fun working in groups as they learned how to do this. One student even commented that it reminded her of learning how to put up a tent for Girl Scouts. Now the students are well aware of how to put it up and take it down and even have races to see who can do it the fastest. \r\nThe equipment is greatly enjoyed for batting practice weekly. Students have commented how nice it is to not have to waist time having to go gather balls back because the net catches it for them.","fullyFundedDate":1731080478398,"projectUrl":"project/replace-our-damaged-softball-equipment/8861658/","projectTitle":"Replace Our Damaged Softball Equipment","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Craig","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8709233"},{"teacherId":3296208,"projectId":8553853,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity and donation to our project for the Walter Stiern Middle School music program! We received the folding music stands and stand lights and they are a great addition to our program!\r\n\r\nOur school site has a great outdoor stage area that the music program would like to use for a future evening concert under the stars . This would create a fun event for students and families to share the music they are working on. The stand lights are necessary for this because we do not have adequate outdoor lighting in this area and would need it in order for students to play outside in the evening. \r\n\r\nWe also plan to use the folding music stands for any event where we take students off campus to perform. Last year we took out mariachi program to perform at an event in town and it was difficult to take the large music stands and instruments on the bus. This will greatly help students be able to attend more events off campus and make logistics for those events much easier! Your support has made a tremendous difference in our daily activities. The cafeteria trays are now an essential part of every science lab we conduct. They help keep materials organized and contained, making cleanup quicker and allowing students to focus more on the experiment itself.\r\n\r\nThe magazine holders have also transformed how we manage our supplies — students' notebooks are neatly stored, easy to access, and no longer get lost or damaged. This simple addition has helped us stay organized and maximize our learning time. Students are able to work on cutting and assembling materials for their notebooks without having to wait for their turn with scissors. The sense of independence and engagement was incredible to witness!\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting changes is that I am now able to print and laminate bilingual posters. These visuals not only brighten our classroom, but they also make key concepts accessible to all of my students, supporting both their language development and content learning.\r\n\r\nThanks to your kindness, we are not only better equipped for our lessons today, but we are also building routines and tools that will support our students' learning for the rest of the year. Up next, students will use their organized notebooks and materials to create their own lab reports and bilingual presentations on our current science unit.
