The STEM materials and hands-on tools are being used daily to support critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving. My students are no longer just listening to lessons — they are building, experimenting, exploring, and discovering.\r\n\r\nOne powerful moment happened during our first STEM challenge. Students worked in teams to build structures that could hold weight using the new materials. I watched students who typically struggle with attention or confidence become leaders in their groups. They were explaining ideas, testing solutions, and celebrating each small success. The pride on their faces when their structures stood tall was unforgettable. They were fully engaged — and fully believing in themselves.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their eyes lit up. There were gasps, wide smiles, and so many excited questions. They immediately wanted to touch, build, and explore. The birthday bags and trinkets brought a different, but equally meaningful, kind of excitement. For some of my students, having their birthday acknowledged in a special way at school means everything. Watching a child feel seen, celebrated, and valued in front of their peers creates a sense of belonging that carries into their behavior and confidence. It sends the message: You matter here.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, these resources are strengthening our classroom community. Celebrating birthdays and individual milestones fosters kindness and connection. Students are cheering for one another, practicing gratitude, and learning how to celebrate others. It has positively impacted classroom behavior because students feel safe, supported, and included.\r\n\r\nNext Steps\r\n\r\nWe are continuing to integrate the STEM materials into structured problem-solving challenges aligned with grade-level standards. Our next project involves collaborative engineering tasks where students will design solutions to real-world scenarios. We will also continue building our culture of kindness by using the birthday resources to reinforce social-emotional learning, positive behavior expectations, and peer encouragement.\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just provide supplies — it provided opportunity, confidence, belonging, and joy. You gave my students hands-on experiences that meet their individual learning needs and a classroom environment where they feel safe, celebrated, and inspired to grow.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in their future and believing in their potential. 💛","fullyFundedDate":1769177614524,"projectUrl":"project/unlocking-potential-for-students-with-sp/9895860/","projectTitle":"Unlocking Potential for Students With Special Needs","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tedtaotao","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9918318_orig.jpg?crop=660,660,x0,y349&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738891495259","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/be-the-change-today-"},{"teacherId":9918318,"projectId":9102718,"letterContent":"Dear Panda Cares and Future Donors,\r\n\r\nWords cannot fully express the immense gratitude I feel for your generous support and donation to our classroom. The supplies you provided were utilized with fidelity to enrich our students' sensory and learning experiences in the most meaningful way. From sensory bins that offered calming textures to interactive tools that sparked curiosity, every item served a distinct purpose in meeting my students' individual needs. One particular moment that stood out was when my students discovered our new sensory stations for the first time—pure joy lit up their faces as they eagerly explored each material, proudly boasting to one another about their favorites. It was a moment of magic, and one that simply wouldn't have been possible without your kindness.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, the overall quality of our classroom program has significantly improved. The new resources helped create a more engaging and inclusive environment, encouraging my students to participate more actively and confidently. For example, we recently launched a \"Texture Detectives\" activity, where students used sensory tools to describe and categorize different materials—this not only supported their sensory needs but also boosted language development and collaborative learning. Moving forward, we plan to expand on this by integrating more multi-sensory lessons that blend tactile input with academic goals, helping our students grow both socially and academically.\r\n\r\nThank you, Panda Cares and all future donors, for putting smiles on the faces of my students. Your generosity is felt daily in our classroom, and we are so incredibly grateful for the joy and growth you've helped make possible.","fullyFundedDate":1739368338034,"projectUrl":"project/empower-special-needs-students-with-your/9102718/","projectTitle":"Empower Special Needs Students With Your Support!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tedtaotao","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9918318_orig.jpg?crop=660,660,x0,y349&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738891495259","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/be-the-change-today-"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_62253","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":704,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":89,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":29,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":60,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"25.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.0,"schoolId":62253,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sycamore Rocks Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sycamore Rocks Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/apple-valley-unified-school-district/sycamore-rocks-elementary-school/62253"}
