While many families use printers at home for simple tasks, in school it allows us to make learning more tangible and personalized. Students can now print drafts of their writing, peer-edit on paper, and see the growth in their revisions in a concrete way. They also use the printer to bring digital projects to life—whether it's research reports, artwork, or graphs from science experiments—which makes their learning feel real and purposeful. This technology is helping them take greater ownership of their education and gives me more flexibility in providing immediate feedback.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most about having a printer is the pride of holding their work in their hands. For some, especially reluctant writers, seeing their typed stories printed out has given them a new sense of accomplishment and motivation. One student in particular, who often struggled to stay engaged, now eagerly asks if he can print his finished assignments and even decorates them to share with the class. Moments like these highlight how a simple tool can transform confidence and excitement in learning, and I am so grateful to be able to offer this experience in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1695317131518,"projectUrl":"project/lets-print-it-and-learn-about-it/7837973/","projectTitle":"Let's Print it\", and Learn About it!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Janet Romero","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7495131_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1600228320446","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-janet-romero"},{"teacherId":7495131,"projectId":7838102,"letterContent":"The STEAM resources from Teachers Pay Teachers have been a game-changer in making cross-curricular learning more engaging and accessible. With interactive lessons and digital activities, students are able to explore science, technology, engineering, art, and math in creative, hands-on ways. The technology helps differentiate instruction, allowing every student to learn at their own pace and in their own style.\r\n\r\nStudents are loving the design challenges the most especially the ones that combine art and engineering. One favorite was building a model of a Mars rover using simple materials and then creating a presentation to explain their design choices. The blend of creativity and problem-solving really got them excited.\r\n\r\nAbsolutely. One student who's usually shy during discussions has really shined during these STEAM challenges. She's taken the lead on the artistic elements and even shared her digital portfolio with the class. These resources gave her a platform to express herself and connect with peers in a new way.","fullyFundedDate":1695857814462,"projectUrl":"project/steam-learning-from-tpt/7838102/","projectTitle":"STEAM Learning from TPT","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Janet Romero","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7495131_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1600228320446","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-janet-romero"},{"teacherId":7495131,"projectId":7837592,"letterContent":"We recently kicked off an exciting life science unit by dissecting owl pellets, thanks to the new materials we received! One memorable moment was when a group of students uncovered a nearly complete rodent skeleton they were so fascinated, they started researching which type of rodent it might be. The lab sparked tons of questions and deep curiosity about food chains and predator-prey relationships.\r\n\r\nThey were so excited and a little grossed out, in the best way! As soon as I told them we'd be dissecting real owl pellets, the room buzzed with excitement. Many had never done anything like this before, so the experience felt like a real scientific adventure. Some even said they felt like \"real scientists.\"\r\n\r\nNow that they've completed their dissections and analyzed the remains, students are creating food web diagrams based on their findings. Next, they'll be presenting short reports on owl diets and habitats, connecting what they found in the pellets to larger ecological systems.
