It is always so much fun to watch students go from \"I didn't know people could do that!\" to \"Look what I just did!\" They are now excited to make more.\r\n\r\nIn the future, the kiln will also allow us to create glaze test tiles more energy efficiently than in the big kiln. They used the clay provided to form large bowls that they then worked to alter - sometimes cutting and curving the pieces, sometimes adding new pieces, sometimes adding coils made with the extruder, or a mixture of the above techniques. Afterward, they glazed their pieces with different designs. \r\n Since I was challenging my students with this project, when my student first saw the materials, they were a little uncertain, but as we looked at other artists' work and videos of their processes, they started getting excited. All of my students in my upper level art classes chose to make chip & dip bowls. Some have finished, and their bowls look AMAZING! The rest will be finished soon and will certainly be just as fantastic. \r\n My Art 1 students have also gotten use out of the extruder for extruding coils while making their coil bowls. The extruder helps them to create coils of a consistent thickness, which makes their pots look better and freeing up space in the project timeline to be more creative with their coil designs. \r\n Our next projects in my Art 2/3 classes will be creating artwork of Arkansas Wildlife, followed by glass fusing and figure drawing.\r\n Again, thank you so much for your help. They were so thrilled when the new instruments arrived and immediately wanted to begin playing them. They quickly noticed how the quality in the sound the new instruments made was better. It was gratifying for me to see the pride on their faces as they held their new polished instruments and practice books.\r\n The band students at West Side High School and I greatly appreciate your generosity in your donation to our project. The students were so excited when they saw the 3D printer and all the filament you provided. They were even more excited when I started printing some test prints of our school mascot and they found out that they, too, could create designs to print.\r\n We started working in Tinkercad, with the students learning how to combine and alter basic shapes. Most students began by creating a personalized fob for their keychain. A few students created some simple gifts for relatives, and others started branching out and trying a few more ambitious designs.\r\n As my students and I become more familiar with the printer and the available software, I hope that we can design texture rollers and \"cookie\" cutters to use with our clay projects.\r\n Thank you again for all your support in making this project possible.","fullyFundedDate":1731080045668,"projectUrl":"project/3d-printing-school-spirit-to-texture-to/8839674/","projectTitle":"3d Printing: School Spirit to Texture Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Caples","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4093224_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1502167504452","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4093224"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_61006","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":213,"numTeachers":26,"percentFrplEligible":70,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":97,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"8.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":78.6,"schoolId":61006,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about West Side High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"West Side High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arkansas/west-side-public-schools/west-side-high-school/61006"}
