The students share the fruits of their labor with those who live in the neighborhoods near their school. \r\nMy students built the JTE Learning Garden 5 years ago. They, and the school community, have taken excellent care of the space. Together, they plant seeds, water and weed, harvest, and share/eat the produce. Last summer; however, our school underwent a construction project and during the work one of the garden beds was destroyed. The students returned to school and were devastated. When the students first saw the new garden bed, they were overjoyed! As a result, they collaborated with community members to make and install a permanent StoryWalk at our school that is available to students as well as the community. They read Let's Look After Our World, a book about taking care of the environment, and used the pages of the book as well as a graphic design software to create StoryWalk posters. The posters teach vocabulary, ask questions about the book, and allow readers to make connections. Because of your donation, my students have been able to print their StoryWalk posters on a large scale in order to display them for their community. \r\nThey have also designed and printed a map of our school's learning garden so that families who visit the garden know what is planted in each garden bed. \r\nMy students are SO excited to have this tool! They have LOTS of plans for this piece of technology. Thank you for supporting them as learners, agents of change in their community, and innovative dreamers.","fullyFundedDate":1755724861160,"projectUrl":"project/a-just-right-printer/9332476/","projectTitle":"A Just Right Printer","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Boogaart","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6585346_orig.png?crop=7058,7058,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1602186394621","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6585346"},{"teacherId":6585346,"projectId":8955264,"letterContent":"The students who wrote this grant were beyond excited to receive your generous support! Due to supply issues in December, they were unable to get the cookie dough in time to deliver their cookie cutter kits; however, that experience was used as a lesson in monitoring and adjusting! They will give the families the tools they need to make a year's worth of sweet memories...and hopefully years worth of sweet memories!\r\n\r\nThis student-centered, project-based learning experience has provided the students with hands-on learning opportunities in 3D design and printing and creative thinking. Your generous gift is helping develop future designers and all-around good people! They squealed with delight and high-fived each other SO HARD when they realized that their grant was fully funded.
