Thank you for supporting her!\r\n\r\nAs a first-year Physical Education teacher, this year was a journey of trial and error — and a whole lot of growth. My goal was to create a PE program where students didn't just have fun, but also gained valuable experiences and lessons they could carry with them beyond the gym. We started with the basics: traditional PE equipment that served its purpose, but lacked the variety our students were eager for. They craved new challenges, fresh games, and engaging competition. Thanks to the incredible support of our donors, that vision became a reality. We were able to purchase volleyballs in our school colors, mini golf sets, kickballs, soccer balls, footballs, jump ropes, yoga mats, dumbbells, and more. The moment the boxes arrived, the excitement on my students' faces said it all. Because they had a voice in the selection process, the equipment reflected their interests — and they knew they had been heard.\r\n\r\nThis new gear has opened doors for us as educators and transformed the way we teach. We've played dynamic games of flag football, introduced mini golf, and even held a pilates session with our new yoga mats. With the addition of dumbbells and mats, I'm planning a full personal fitness unit focused on teaching proper form, weight training, and pilates techniques — lifelong skills they can build on for years to come. This experience has not only enriched our curriculum but also empowered our students. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to grow alongside them and for the generosity that made it all possible.\r\n\r\nSincerely,\r\n-Larran Simmons","fullyFundedDate":1744337064820,"projectUrl":"project/physical-fitness-fun-enhancing-junior/9121494/","projectTitle":"Physical Fitness Fun - Enhancing Junior High PE","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Tapee","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6564016_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y240&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1628345356584","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6564016"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_56464","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":852,"numTeachers":65,"percentFrplEligible":44,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":55,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":29,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"8 - 9","studentTeacherRatio":"13.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":69.0,"schoolId":56464,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Central Junior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Central Junior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arkansas/springdale-public-schools/central-junior-high-school/56464"}
