Although these supplies were originally meant for the last project of the previous school year, receiving them at the beginning of this one gave students a powerful spark of inspiration. Starting fresh with new tools and resources energized their creativity and reminded them how much these opportunities mean. Their enthusiasm made it clear how impactful this support is in opening doors for them to explore new artistic challenges.\r\n\r\nThroughout the year, these materials will be used to create clay houses that are far more than simple structures. Students design each house as a personal expression, weaving in ideas about their heritage, family traditions, and the values that matter most to them. This allows them to transform their experiences and imagination into meaningful works of art while practicing craftsmanship, design, and problem-solving. Each house becomes a story in clay—an opportunity for students to connect with themselves, their community, and their culture while also learning technical skills they will carry forward into future projects.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, our students are deeply thankful for the generosity that makes this work possible. They consistently express how meaningful it feels to know that others care about their success and creativity. This project not only sparks joy in the art room but also builds confidence, pride, and a sense of belonging. With your support, our students are empowered to dream bigger, create boldly, and share their unique voices through art. The impact of these teeny tiny clay houses will last well beyond this year, reminding students that their creativity matters and their stories deserve to be celebrated.","fullyFundedDate":1746460155797,"projectUrl":"project/teeny-tiny-clay-houses/9253755/","projectTitle":"Teeny Tiny Clay Houses","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Maria Akehurst","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9002824_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x240,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760972674169","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mariaakehurst"},{"teacherId":2036137,"projectId":9329984,"letterContent":"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the incredible impact your support has had on our art program here at Heritage High School.\r\n\r\nOne of our main goals was to find a portable pottery wheel that students using wheelchairs could access and use. We have an adaptive art class with students who have significant mobility challenges, and the wheel you provided has been a game changer. Its hand-adjustable speed lever makes it possible for students with limited mobility to experience the joy of throwing pottery—something that previously wasn't accessible to them.\r\n\r\nBeyond our adaptive class, this wheel has also brought new energy to our art club. Because it's lightweight and portable, we've been able to bring it to different school events to spark student interest in ceramics. Just last week, during a school-wide celebration, more than 80 students signed up for our art club after seeing demonstrations on this wheel. It's been wonderful to see how it has inspired so many new students to get involved in the arts.\r\n\r\nThis wheel also allows students to stand and throw, giving them a clear view of key processes like centering and pulling walls—helping them understand the craft more deeply.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the LED light you donated has been an invaluable tool for documenting and recording demonstrations. It helps students who are absent due to illness, sports, or other obligations stay connected to class by watching videos of the techniques they missed.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has created meaningful opportunities for our students, removed barriers to participation, and inspired a whole new wave of creativity and excitement. Even before that change, I was passionate about creating a physical art library for my students—a space where they could hold books, flip through pages, and experience the work of artists in a tangible way.\r\n\r\nThis library has become an essential part of our classroom. It gives students the chance to dive deeply into artwork, spark new ideas, and conduct meaningful investigations. They often sketch directly from the books, reference them for glaze recipes, and gather inspiration for their own projects. Having these resources available—without relying on internet access or working devices—allows them to simply let go and create.\r\n\r\nWe are truly grateful for the opportunities this has opened up for our students at Heritage High School. With these books, students always have access to high-quality information and visual references at their fingertips.\r\n\r\nThe books are versatile and will be used across all projects in both beginning and advanced ceramics courses. Already, we have seen an immediate effect—our advanced ceramics students eagerly explored the new resources and found inspiration, technical guidance, and even those \"aha\" moments while reading about different techniques and projects. This enthusiasm has translated into greater confidence, experimentation, and growth in their studio work.\r\n\r\nThese books will continue to support our program year after year, enhancing learning opportunities and giving students the tools to be more independent, creative, and resourceful in their artmaking.
