Because of your generosity, my students have been able to explore a brand-new artistic medium and experience the excitement of transforming soft wool into detailed creations of their own. Many of them had never worked with fiber arts before, so this opportunity has been especially meaningful.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the classroom filled with curiosity and excitement. Students were amazed that loose wool could become solid shapes with patience and care. We began by learning safety techniques and basic felting skills, and students created small animals or landscapes that reflected their styles and personalities. One special moment was watching a student who often doubts their artistic ability proudly share their finished piece and say, \"I didn't know I could do this.\" The confidence and sense of accomplishment were incredible to see.\r\n\r\nBeyond creativity, needle felting has helped students build focus, patience, and perseverance. They are learning that careful effort leads to rewarding results. We are now beginning a collaborative project where students will combine their individual creations into a larger felted scene, encouraging teamwork and continued skill development.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has truly made a difference in our classroom. Thank you for giving my students the chance to discover new talents and express themselves in such a meaningful way.","fullyFundedDate":1762547549692,"projectUrl":"project/wool-to-wonder-exploring-needle-felting/9795297/","projectTitle":"Wool to Wonder: Exploring Needle Felting in Art Class","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cravens","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8173815"},{"teacherId":8173815,"projectId":8930301,"letterContent":"My students have been using all these supplies since we started receiving them. When they started arriving box by box, my students were excited to see a variety of supplies that we don't normally have in the art room. They have been finding ways to use the supplies on more than just their current projects, and I love that they are exploring and creating. \r\nI have been able to allow my 7th graders to explore interior design. They are building 3D models of rooms using the tag board, hot glue, paint markers, and tapes. They are learning that some applied arts must consider their audience, so they are creating 3D interiors for specific clients.\r\n8th grade art class has been exploring the concept of linear perspective, and used the tag board to cut and fold a miniature model to get a good grasp of point of view using linear perspective. With a tangible model they were able to accurately draw receding lines using a vanishing point. \r\nMy High School Art 1 classes have been studying urban art, and are utilizing the tag board and paint markers to explore Graffiti and popular culture. They are loving working with the structured tag board and paint markers as their mediums.\r\nMy Art 3-4 students have been exploring historical architecture, and recreating iconic structures to scale. They are employing research, mathematics, and problem solving skills that they otherwise would not have gotten to hone in. They are loving it! \r\nI personally have been able to utilize the tag board for mounting and displaying art in our hallways to make a positive impact on our overall school culture. I do also have a student with autism who has been completely engaged in art class everyday because I have been able to let him explore the paint markers and tag board using them as stencils. He is often over stimulated and out of sync in other classes but art is his happy place! It's been nice to provide him with something that keeps him actively joyful in class every single day. \r\nMy students at every grade level have loved the variety of colors and supplies they have gotten to use, often times we are very limited on quantity of items, but we have an abundance of these. They have been enthralled in the creation process and have been exploring other ways to use these supplies just because they are having so much fun using it all.
