Having the ability to adjust font size, look up unfamiliar words, and highlight important details has helped students strengthen their comprehension and build confidence as readers. Even students who typically struggle to stay engaged during independent reading are showing more focus and enthusiasm.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most about the new Kindles is the freedom to choose books that genuinely interest them. Many of them enjoy exploring new genres, and they love the interactive features that make reading feel more personal and accessible. The devices have also made small-group instruction smoother, as students can quickly switch between texts and follow along more easily.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were once reluctant readers have especially embraced this technology. They appreciate the privacy the Kindle provides when selecting a book, and the adjustable reading features help them feel more successful. Their increased motivation has been noticeable, and they are now participating more actively in discussions and showing pride in their progress.","fullyFundedDate":1669738022042,"projectUrl":"project/create-with-literacy/7020979/","projectTitle":"Create with Literacy!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dendy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3730999_orig.jpg?crop=750,750,x0,y130&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1595804656841","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/msdendy"},{"teacherId":1153025,"projectId":9496654,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding this project for our classroom! The bilingual books are such a hit and the speaking games are just perfect for my students mastering a new language!\r\n I must admit, the addition of the treasure box to our classroom was probably one of the most exciting! The interest and support from our school community has been overwhelming in the best possible way. These books are flying off the shelves, and the excitement from our students and families has been pure joy to witness.\r\n\r\nThanks to Sonic's generous matching and your incredible support, I was able to add many more titles to our growing collection. But with more books came a new (and wonderful!) problem—we needed a place to put them all! That's where you came in. Because of you, we now have a second mobile book cart that allows us to organize our collection by language and make it even easier for students to find and enjoy stories in the languages they know and love.\r\n\r\nYour donation is more than just a gift of furniture—it's a gift of belonging, pride, and connection. Because of you, my classroom is now filled with the joyful sound of students diving into books in their home languages—Hindi, Spanish, Arabic, Telugu, Japanese, and more.\r\n\r\nThe impact was instant. The very day the books arrived, my students' faces lit up as they found titles they could connect with—stories that felt like theirs. They couldn't believe they were allowed to check them out and take them home. Within moments, books were being passed around, excited chatter buzzed through the room, and a checkout list started filling up faster than I could keep up.\r\n\r\nTruthfully, their hunger for more books has become both a blessing and a bit of a curse—they've already read through every title we received and are begging for more! It's a beautiful problem to have, and one that wouldn't exist without your kindness and belief in the power of representation.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping me create a space where every language is valued, every culture is celebrated, and every child feels seen.","fullyFundedDate":1737743361269,"projectUrl":"project/bilingualism-is-my-superpower/8864282/","projectTitle":"Bilingualism Is My Superpower!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hritz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1153025_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720568713932","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-hritz"},{"teacherId":7607518,"projectId":8810749,"letterContent":"When my students opened the box of new games, they were so happy and excited that strangers wanted to provide them with these board games! They couldn't believe that people donated money to this project without knowing the students personally. They were humbled and treated the games more carefully after this discussion.\r\n\r\nMy students are using these new financial literacy games to learn more about handling money, opportunity costs, saving, lending, and so many other financial concepts. Students worked in groups to learn how to play each game by reading and following the directions. Then they taught their classmates how to play the games. Students created a poster for their game that explained the big idea of the game, details of the game, vocabulary related to the game, and the most important rules of the game. The posters provide a visual resource for the class as they continue playing the games.\r\n\r\nThe next step for these students is to use the financial literacy concepts they are learning through these games while playing the Stock Market Game.
