When my students first saw these arrive, they were so excited! Especially one particular student who inspired this project by showing me his own foam basketball before winter break.\r\n\r\nSo far, we've used these balls for a couple of things. First, I've used them during my mentor class period to give students a \"brain break\" from learning for a few minutes. They've especially appreciated these on cold winter days when we can't go outside - these allow them to still be active inside, without the risk of breaking anything or making too much noise!\r\n\r\nSecond, I've used them in my English class to review the parts of an essay. I put the students into groups and gave each of them a ball. The first person had to name a part of an essay (for example, the introduction), then whoever they tossed the ball to had to explain something important to remember about that part. Then, they named another essay component before passing the ball to the next person. My students loved the fact that it allowed them to play and have fun while still meeting our learning goals.\r\n\r\nI plan to keep using activities like these in my classroom on a regular basis.
