This was a highly requested series and many of my students were very excited when I opened the package. Multiple students immediately wanted to read them and explained to others what the manga was about. This got even more students interested in reading this series. It is fairly common for one or more of the volumes to be check out at the same time. I had one student, who was not even in my class, finish reading all 20 volumes by the end of the first week because they heard about it from some friends. \r\n\r\nIt is always my goal as an educator to promote reading in any form, because I know it will benefit the student. I also know that many of my students can not afford or unable to obtain many of the books and series I have in my classroom library. My students want to read, but they just struggle with finding the books that peak their interest. But your gift has meet the needs of my students and has been a major success. Chemistry can often feel abstract to students when it is limited to textbooks and lectures, but the introduction of hands-on materials has brought the subject to life in meaningful and memorable ways. By allowing students to physically interact with elements, observe trends, and model atomic behavior, the lab kit has deepened their understanding of the periodic table as more than just a chart on the wall.\r\n\r\nThrough structured lab activities, students are now able to explore patterns such as atomic radius, reactivity, and electronegativity in a tangible way. Instead of simply memorizing periodic trends, they can investigate and discover these patterns themselves. This shift toward inquiry-based learning has increased student curiosity and confidence, as they take on a more active role in their education. The lab kit also supports collaboration, as students work in groups to solve problems, make observations, and discuss their findings. These experiences not only strengthen their chemistry knowledge but also build important communication and critical thinking skills.\r\n\r\nAnother important impact of the periodic table lab kit is the increased level of engagement in the classroom. Students who may have previously struggled to connect with the material are now more motivated and enthusiastic. Hands-on learning provides multiple entry points for understanding, making chemistry more accessible to a diverse group of learners. The excitement generated by these labs creates a positive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions, take risks, and explore new ideas.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead to the 2026β2027 school year, there is a strong sense of anticipation as the classroom will also incorporate a year-long subscription to Science World magazines. This addition will further enhance the learning experience by connecting classroom content to real-world events and current scientific discoveries. Science is constantly evolving, and these magazines will help students see the relevance of what they are learning in their daily lives and in the world around them.\r\n\r\nScience World magazines will serve as a valuable tool for bridging the gap between theory and application. Students will have opportunities to read about current topics such as environmental issues, technological advancements, and breakthroughs in research. By integrating these articles into lessons, teachers can create meaningful discussions that link chemistry concepts to real-world situations. This approach not only reinforces content knowledge but also helps students develop a broader understanding of how science impacts society.\r\n\r\nIn addition to strengthening content connections, the use of Science World magazines will play a key role in increasing literacy within the science classroom. Reading, analyzing, and discussing informational texts are essential skills for student success across all subjects. By incorporating these magazines into regular instruction, students will practice critical reading strategies, expand their scientific vocabulary, and improve their ability to interpret complex information. This focus on literacy supports students in becoming more well-rounded learners who can effectively communicate and apply their knowledge.\r\n\r\nThe combination of the periodic table lab kit and the Science World magazine subscription represents a powerful step forward for the chemistry program at Danville High School. Together, these resources create a dynamic and engaging learning environment that supports both hands-on exploration and real-world connections. As the new school year begins, there is great excitement about the opportunities these tools will provide. Students will not only gain a deeper understanding of chemistry but also develop the skills and curiosity needed to succeed in an ever-changing scientific world.","fullyFundedDate":1773187977156,"projectUrl":"project/making-science-fun/9890596/","projectTitle":"Making Science Fun!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Whitlow","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10045326_orig.jpg?crop=2447,2447,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748455856666","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10045326"},{"teacherId":8748480,"projectId":10135174,"letterContent":"Thank you for your donation to my classroom and my students. We immediately put the hand soap pumps and refill soap to use by setting up a regular handwashing routine for students as they need to wash their hands. The tissues have also been extremely helpful for students dealing with seasonal sniffles.\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment happened during a short classroom discussion about germs and staying healthy. We talked about how easily germs can spread in shared spaces like classrooms and labs. Students were excited to help set up the soap pumps around the room, and several volunteered to remind classmates about washing their hands. It turned into a great teachable moment about personal responsibility and community health.\r\n\r\nThe students were very appreciative and curious when they saw the new supplies. Many noticed right away that we had multiple soap pumps available and commented that it would make it easier to wash their hands. Some students even asked where the supplies came from, which gave me the opportunity to explain that generous donors helped provide them for our classroom. They were genuinely thankful and understood that someone cared enough about their learning environment and health to help support our classroom. These supplies have also allowed students to stay in the classroom instead of needing to leave to go to the restroom. \r\n\r\nIn the coming weeks, students will continue working on hands-on science activities connected to our current units. As we conduct experiments and collaborative activities, these supplies help us maintain a clean and healthy learning space so students can stay focused on their work. Our next steps include completing lab investigations, group discussions, and projects that allow students to apply what they are learning.
