They have been excited since the moment they noticed the boxes in the room. I wish we could have the funds to get more so that they can each have one versus sharing, but through sharing we've been learning about bass lines and melodic parts of a song playing together.\r\n\r\nThe students have been able to practice learning their scales, chords, and even learning different songs. This has been a beautiful way to communicate with some of my nonverbal students as well. My 5th graders had the opportunity to use these keyboards to collaborate with their peers to create original music, which they so thoroughly enjoyed. These books celebrate Mexican culture and language, helping students connect personally to the stories they read. They light up when they recognize familiar words, traditions, or places, and it's been amazing to see how these connections deepen their love for reading.\r\n\r\nThe kids also appreciate Junie B. Jones and our leveled readers, which make them laugh while helping them grow as readers. I also teach a before-school English learning class, and the students love using these books during that time. One of my favorite moments was seeing a student who was shy about reading last year proudly pick a chapter book and say, \"I can read this!\"\r\n\r\nWhen my first graders first saw the organized shelves and labeled bins, they were so excited. They ran to show friends and began exploring right away, talking about which books to read first. Your contributions have made a wonderful difference in helping my students fall in love with reading. Because of you, we now have books that meet their interests and reading levels, making it possible for every child to feel successful as a reader. It has been incredible to watch them light up with excitement when they find a book that speaks to them.\r\n\r\nThe National Geographic books have been a huge favorite, especially for our curious learners who love exploring the world around them. Many students are drawn to the I Can Read books that let them dream about what they want to be when they grow up, while others enjoy the comforting adventures of Biscuit, the silly fun of Splat the Cat, and the always-popular Pete the Cat stories. These books have quickly become treasures in our classroom, and I see my students developing both skills and joy each time they open one.
