When the students first saw the new acrylic paint sets, brushes, and color wheel kits, their faces lit up with pure excitement. Many had never worked with high-quality materials before, and the joy of unboxing them was truly unforgettable—it felt like the first day of school and a birthday party all rolled into one.\r\n\r\nSince then, we've dived headfirst into a color theory unit, where students used the new materials to explore primary, secondary, and tertiary colors, as well as warm and cool palettes. One memorable moment came when a student who typically struggles with participation painted an expressive piece using only complementary colors—he proudly explained his choices to the class and received wonderful support from his peers. That moment captured everything this project was meant to do: empower students to express themselves and find pride in their work.\r\n\r\nCurrently, students are working on an abstract self-portrait project where they use acrylic paint to express their personalities, emotions, and inner worlds. The quick-drying nature of the paints has encouraged students to experiment freely, layering techniques and textures without fear of \"messing up.\" As they move forward, they'll be curating a mini-gallery to showcase their pieces to peers and parents—a project made entirely possible by your support.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving our students the tools to not only create, but to believe in the power of their own voices through art. Your contribution has opened doors that will keep inspiring them long after the final brushstroke is laid.","fullyFundedDate":1739373203191,"projectUrl":"project/coloring-the-future-painting-a-brighter/8932076/","projectTitle":"Coloring the Future: Painting a Brighter Tomorrow in the Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Glaab","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8346858_orig.jpg?crop=720,720,x25,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731113755588","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/msglaab"},{"teacherId":4928613,"projectId":8644715,"letterContent":"Thank you for your donation! My students DEFINITELY appreciated the supplies, especially the tissues, Clorox wipes and pencils. \r\n\r\nIt seems as though students eat the pencils right up, but with this donation, we were able to last until this final semester of the year before winter break. Similarly, the tissues were especially needed as we had multiple illness spread through our school. I think at one point we must have gone through 3 boxes in one week! Thankfully, because of the abundance of tissues, we should be able to make it until next semester and be able to face allergy season strong. As for the wipes, we have been able to fend off additional illnesses by sanitizing our instruments and surfaces commonly touched. \r\n\r\nThe tuners were the last to arrive, but we are glad they arrived before our concert. We had to tune over 75 students in 45 minutes and the tuners were a godsend for this task.
