Your generosity has already made a tremendous difference for our students and our classroom environment.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new equipment, they were curious and slightly confused. While it took a bit to learn new procedures for putting the guitars away, since they had become used to packing in the guitars, the new guitar rack quickly became a classroom climate changing addition because students could safely store all of the instruments in a designated place instead of crowding them in. They now take to \"claiming\" certain guitars based on rack position which amuses me greatly. The music stands also brought a new level of confidence and focus during rehearsals, since every student had a designated stand and could clearly see their music to participate more comfortably. We now have enough to supply stands to almost everyone in our class, which is a great improvement. \r\n\r\nThese new additions are helping us use our classroom space much more efficiently. With instruments stored properly and materials available for use, students can transition more smoothly between activities and spend more time making music together instead of competing or fighting for resources. During recent rehearsals, students were able to set up quickly, maintain better focus while playing, and collaborate more effectively as an ensemble.\r\n\r\nAs we continue preparing for upcoming performances and classroom projects, these resources will play an important role in helping students grow as musicians and performers. The improved organization and visibility will allow us to focus more on developing musical skills, teamwork, and confidence rather than managing limited space and materials.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in our students and supporting music education!","fullyFundedDate":1770569997736,"projectUrl":"project/essential-equipment-for-a-growing-music/10005365/","projectTitle":"Essential Equipment for a Growing Music Program","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gomez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4928613_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1508993081332","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4928613"},{"teacherId":9206885,"projectId":9763784,"letterContent":"The introduction of a high-quality printer has fundamentally shifted the rhythm of our classroom. In a world where students are constantly navigating digital distractions, having the ability to hold a physical piece of paper has provided a much-needed \"reset\" for their concentration. My students have discovered that they work much better when they can physically annotate, circle key terms, and map out their ideas by hand. This transition from screen to paper has allowed them to refocus their energy and engage with their assignments on a deeper, more tactile level. It is wonderful to see them trade the glow of a monitor for the clarity and focus of a printed page.\r\n\r\nThe iPad has served as a vital bridge for students who previously felt excluded due to technology barriers. Several of my students were struggling because their previous devices were broken or because they were unable to pay the fees required for school-issued laptops. This iPad has given those students a fresh start. It is incredibly exciting for them to use a tool that is fast, intuitive, and available to them without the stress of financial hurdles. One student, who had been falling behind due to a lack of access, has now become one of the most active participants in our digital research projects, simply because they finally have a reliable device in their hands.\r\n\r\nYour support has created an environment where every student, regardless of their financial situation or their struggle with digital fatigue, has the tools they need to succeed. The students were thrilled to see these new additions to our room, and the sense of equity it has fostered is palpable. Thank you for recognizing that modern learning requires both the latest technology and the traditional tools that help us focus. Your generosity has truly leveled the playing field and improved the daily academic lives of my students!","fullyFundedDate":1760879559002,"projectUrl":"project/future-forward/9763784/","projectTitle":"Future Forward","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. dela Cruz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9206885_orig.jpg?crop=3672,3672,x620,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758850164741","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/vmsavid"},{"teacherId":10297519,"projectId":9784954,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, my students are using the new footballs, soccer balls, playground balls, and PE equipment every day in our gym and outdoor fields at Valencia Middle School. I have been able to set up rotating stations where students practice throwing, catching, kicking, and small-sided games with enough equipment for everyone. I saw immediate growth during our soccer unit when a group of students who usually finished last began staying after the whistle to rehearse passing patterns with the new soccer balls. Instead of asking to sit out, they were asking to play longer. The footballs have helped me teach proper technique in our invasion games and fitness lessons, and the playground balls have made warm-ups more fun and less intimidating for beginners.\r\n\r\nThe day the materials arrived is a moment I will never forget. As we opened the boxes, students gathered around and asked, \"You mean real people bought this for us?\" Their faces lit up when they held a brand-new soccer ball or caught a spiral from an unworn football. Several volunteered to help me organize the storage room and set up goals before class even started. I noticed my quieter students smiling, talking with classmates, and feeling proud that our PE department finally looked like a real athletic space. That reaction showed me that this project did more than provide gear — it gave students a sense that they are seen and valued.\r\n\r\nNext steps for Valencia students are to keep building skills and leadership through the new resources. In our upcoming team sports unit, I plan for students to create and teach their own drills using the footballs and soccer balls, focusing on communication, sportsmanship, and lifelong fitness habits. I also want to open lunchtime intramurals so more students can be active beyond the regular PE schedule. Thanks to you, physical education at Valencia Middle School has become more joyful, inclusive, and impactful, and I am already seeing students carry this confidence into other classes and their daily lives.","fullyFundedDate":1761843962960,"projectUrl":"project/coach-benji-physical-educationteam-spor/9784954/","projectTitle":"Coach Benji Physical Education/Team Sports","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Benjamin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10297519"},{"teacherId":4928613,"projectId":9610628,"letterContent":"Thank you for helping make our music classroom a place where every student feels included, prepared, and supported. Because of your generosity, instruments are available to students who truly want to learn, removing barriers and opening doors to meaningful musical experiences. Having access to these beautiful instruments helps students take their learning seriously, build confidence, and feel proud of the work they are doing.\r\n\r\nThe arrival of these 15 acoustic guitars has had an immediate and positive impact on many of our students. For many incoming students, this is the first time they have had consistent access to a quality instrument during class. Students now come in excited and ready to learn, knowing they have the tools they need to participate fully (and with a strong possessiveness of their new instrument!). This sense of ownership has increased engagement and helped create a supportive, collaborative classroom community.\r\n\r\nThe long-term impact is especially meaningful for our advanced mariachi students, who previously had to borrow from a shared class set of worn guitars. Having dedicated guitars allows them to rehearse more consistently and take greater ownership of their musicianship. Our students, many of whom face challenges outside the classroom, are now growing as musicians and as confident, capable young people thanks to your donations. Thank you for believing in them and for making this opportunity possible.","fullyFundedDate":1759158230070,"projectUrl":"project/strummin-and-dreamin-guitars-for-all/9610628/","projectTitle":"Strummin’ and Dreamin’: Guitars for All!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gomez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4928613_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1508993081332","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4928613"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_61213","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":644,"numTeachers":47,"percentFrplEligible":87,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":7,"percentIndigenous":7,"percentLatinx":80,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"13.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":56.8,"schoolId":61213,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Valencia Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Valencia Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/tucson-unified-school-district/valencia-middle-school/61213"}
