We are fortunate to have access to iPads and loaner Chromebooks, both of which can be used with the headphones. Many of their intervention programs and productivity apps require the ability to hear text-to-speech or audio. I can easily clean and sterilize the headsets for each class use.\r\n\r\nThe art supplies provide students with more creative, hands-on experiences and alternative ways to express themselves, respond to learning, and create beautiful projects. \r\n\r\nPencils, notebooks, and the other basic materials ordered will keep students supplied and on-task throughout the busy days ahead. The students really learned how to responsibly use sharp tools. The first day we used the hand held microscope the kids started by looking at the samples. Then I asked them to look at one of their belongings and this opened up a whole new world to them. By the time we got to the compound microscope they were so excited to see everything in magnification. I also request books of different kinds like graphic novels. It helps the students that aren't as comfortable with reading chapter books to be able to get comfortable and in the habit of grabbing a book and reading it. The books that I requested are diverse and challenging and gets the kids thinking.\r\n\r\n The students that are in my class vary some are first generation, some are second. What they all have in common with being at a title one school is they aren't used to getting the chance to have new books given to them. Some cannot check out books at all because they have no one to help pay their fines and or take them to the local libraries. We're are still working on creating a diorama that tells the behind scene story of their particular character.
