My students were amazed to be offered such luxury, and that people who don't even know them would be so generous. \r\n\r\nIn additional to my original plan for creating an independent reading center, I have used these floor mats and beanbags as a reward: students whose work is complete can choose where they sit. And I have used them for a discussion circle where the more relaxed seating encouraged more natural conversation with greater participation. \r\n\r\nSince this was a corporate donor, my students were also thrilled to learn that companies contribute to good causes, and this one is a company they love, Panda.","fullyFundedDate":1739373544159,"projectUrl":"project/you-mean-reading-could-be-fun-and-comfor/9004488/","projectTitle":"You Mean Reading Could Be Fun and Comfortable?","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nichols","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8374176_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y352&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1734059268389","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/gwyn"},{"teacherId":6207475,"projectId":9099183,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my students now have access to incredible new tools that have transformed our classroom environment! The excitement was palpable when we first unboxed the Qball microphone—students were eager to participate, and even my quietest learners felt empowered to share their thoughts. This microphone has fostered stronger classroom discussions, ensuring every voice is heard and valued. The whiteboards, markers, and cloths have also been game-changers, making lessons more interactive and giving students a hands-on way to engage with new concepts.\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment was during a review activity where students used their individual whiteboards to solve problems and quickly share answers. The energy in the room was amazing—students were actively engaged, helping one another, and confidently explaining their thinking. The Qball microphone added an extra layer of excitement, allowing students to \"pass the mic\" and take turns leading discussions. Moving forward, these resources will continue to enhance participation, collaboration, and confidence in learning. It has not only been helpful for my students but also when our library has all of their copies of a book borrowed and I have another copy that can be borrowed to be enjoyed as well.\r\n\r\nBeyond the books we were fortunate enough to receive some much needed supplies, like pencils. Middle schoolers never have enough pencils and they often tend to lose them as the year goes on. It was very important to me to have supplies for students that will allow them to be successful in their work and having pencils, or anchor Charts for our AVID Tutorials has been very important to set them up for success this year.\r\n\r\nLastly, to add and refresh our fidget collection with this project. I have a well loved collection of fidgets that my students love and look forward to each class period they are in my room.
