Students now choose seating that helps them focus best—wobble stools for active learners, floor cushions for reading time, and low tables for partner work. During a recent writing workshop, I watched two students who usually struggle to stay engaged settle onto floor cushions with clipboards and write for nearly 20 uninterrupted minutes. They proudly shared their stories with the class, and it was a beautiful reminder that comfort and choice can unlock confidence and stamina in young learners.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the room filled with excitement and curiosity. Students carefully explored each seating option and talked about how their bodies feel when they learn. Many said things like, \"This helps me think better!\" and \"I can sit still longer!\" What stood out most was their sense of ownership—they treat our classroom as a shared learning space and take responsibility for choosing what helps them do their best work.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're using our flexible seating during small-group math rotations as we build problem-solving skills and explain our thinking to peers. Next, students will begin a collaborative research project where they will read, write, and create presentations about community helpers. The flexible seating will allow them to move comfortably between independent work and teamwork, supporting both focus and creativity. Your generosity has not only provided new seating—it has created a classroom environment where students feel empowered, engaged, and ready to learn every day. Thank you for making this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1764973289507,"projectUrl":"project/flex-seating-for-second-grade/9940764/","projectTitle":"Flex Seating for Second Grade","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Barton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8359319"},{"teacherId":8364084,"projectId":6727607,"letterContent":"Myself and my students thank you for your support. That is exactly what I was hoping for: excitement in writing. Several students have grown more confident in their writing skills and have built up strength in their hands while using the new pencil grips and weights. The doodle boards are encouraging my students to explore writing and drawing, building confidence, experience, and fluency. \r\nSince I purchased these materials for my school campus, the other teachers have expressed gratitude and shared stories of how their students enjoy and utilize the new materials.
