It has been really exciting to watch this project unfold. The first thing I did with this project was an unboxing of the new books with all my classes. I passed out the books with the students sat in a circle and it was so fun to see their excitement as they looked through them and traded with each other. They were so disappointed when they couldn't check them out immediately as I wanted all the classes to have the chance to unbox and I hadn't labeled them for check out yet.\r\n\r\nThe updated and consolidated Native American section has been a hit with our native students and also attracted the attention of many of our students of other demographics. I am so grateful to have these books together so they can peruse them on their time with out having to ask me where to find them or the students not even knowing they are there to be requested. \r\n\r\nI am lookin forward to setting up a display for Hispanic Heritage Month in a few weeks and featuring many of the new titles by hispanic authors and illustrators and seeing our hispanic students discover these new books.\r\n\r\nThe book bins and new nonfiction labels have made it easier for students to find books they are looking for and to encounter books that are new to them. I have been thrilled to see books checked out that have not been circulated for years as they were lost in the crowded shelves.\r\n\r\nThis project is making a difference in our library and in the reading journey of the students at our school, and I expect it to have effects for many years.","fullyFundedDate":1741497308971,"projectUrl":"project/finding-books-and-finding-representation/9137573/","projectTitle":"Finding Books and Finding Representation!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Z","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9933985"},{"teacherId":8644412,"projectId":9029148,"letterContent":"Your donations for the headphones, wobble seats, and weighted lap blankets were a huge help for my students this year! It helped him when he was overstimulated. It offered a calmer environment when he needed it. Thanks for allowing him this tool to help him regulate his body and mind! The weighted lap blanket was also a huge support for him, as well as a couple other students.\r\n\r\nMany of my students benefited from the use of the wobble seats.
