We are estatic that we recieved the grant. Our junior high students now have a calm, welcoming space where they can take a break, regulate their emotions, and reset when they need it most. This room has already become a meaningful part of our school community and has been used frequently since opening just a few weeks ago, especially during lunch.\r\n\r\nOur students are using the space in thoughtful and purposeful ways. Some come in when they are feeling overwhelmed and need a quiet place to breathe, decompress, and regain focus before returning to class. Others use it as a peaceful space during lunch to relax, reflect, or simply enjoy a calm environment. One particularly meaningful moment was watching a student who was feeling anxious use the space, practice breathing techniques, and then return to class feeling confident and ready to learn. Moments like that remind us why this room matters so much. And we know there will be many more moments.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the completed space, they were excited and greatful to have it. Many students have said how much they loved the calm atmosphere and how safe and peaceful it made them feel. Several students even said it made them feel safe and supported, knowing that adults cared enough to create a space just for their emotional well-being.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, we are able to focus even more intentionally on social-emotional learning in our school. Our next steps include continuing to teach students mindfulness strategies, emotional regulation skills, and healthy coping tools that they can use both in and outside the mindfulness room. Students are also working on personal goal-setting and reflection activities, helping them develop lifelong skills in self-awareness, focus, and resilience.\r\n\r\nYou have helpd us create a real and lasting impact on our students' daily lives. As I continue learning and expanding the use of this technology, I plan to develop additional materials that will help students explore hard-to-visualize scientific concepts through custom-designed models and interactive learning tools.\r\n\r\nBeyond individual projects, this grant has enabled students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as they apply STEM principles in a real-world, interdisciplinary context.
