Thanks to your support, our PBIS experience has become something students genuinely look forward to — and it's changing the way they approach their behavior.\r\n\r\nInstead of earning beads individually, students earn the opportunity to come spend time with me, their school counselor, and make a bracelet together. It's a short, special hangout where we talk about all the positive choices they made to reach this level, and they get to create something that represents their hard work.\r\n\r\nAnd oh my goodness — they love it. They go back to class showing off their bracelets like trophies, and teachers have told me it's become a huge motivator. On the days we do bracelets, the students wear their bracelets all day to show their success. It's become this joyful, confidence-boosting moment that truly celebrates their growth.\r\n\r\nYour donation made this possible. You've helped build something meaningful, motivating, and positive for our campus — and my students feel it every day.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in them and helping us celebrate their success in such a special way.\r\n\r\nWith gratitude,\r\nCass","fullyFundedDate":1756134063191,"projectUrl":"project/brilliant-behaviors-beaded-rewards/9532700/","projectTitle":"Brilliant Behaviors, Beaded Rewards","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Machado","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10050746_orig.jpg?crop=1240,1240,x0,y483&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751315514187","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10050746"},{"teacherId":8368187,"projectId":9320827,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom art project on DonorsChoose! Many of them struggle with traditional classroom setups, particularly with standard hard chairs and rigid seating arrangements. This can lead to restlessness, difficulty concentrating, and frequent off-task behavior, especially for those who benefit from sensory input or who have unique attention needs. The addition of flexible seating options—such as chair bands and bouncy balls—has been transformative for my students, both in their comfort and their ability to remain focused during instruction.\r\n\r\nOne moment that stands out took place during our reading workshop. A student who typically has difficulty staying seated and attentive was offered a bouncy ball chair for the first time. The change was immediate and profound. Rather than getting up repeatedly or distracting nearby classmates, he bounced gently while reading, his focus entirely on the text in front of him. When asked how he felt about the new seating, he said, \"It helps my brain sit still.\" This one adjustment allowed him—and many others—to access learning in a way that felt natural and comfortable, drastically improving their ability to remain engaged for longer periods.\r\n\r\nBeyond seating, the addition of carts, trays, and assorted buckets has significantly improved the organization and functionality of our classroom. My students often struggle during unstructured time or transitions between activities. These moments frequently led to lost instruction time, as they searched for supplies or waited for materials to be passed out. By implementing accessible storage solutions, I've been able to streamline transitions, making them quicker and less chaotic. Art supplies, math manipulatives, writing materials, and sensory tools are now housed in clearly labeled, mobile stations that students can access independently.\r\n\r\nFor example, during a recent cross-curricular art and writing project, students were tasked with creating visual interpretations of a poem they had written. In the past, the setup and material distribution alone would have taken fifteen to twenty minutes. This time, students used the new labeled trays and buckets to quickly gather what they needed, leaving more time for the creative process. The project flowed seamlessly, with students fully immersed in both the artistic and literary aspects of the assignment. The work they produced was richer, more thoughtful, and clearly the result of having uninterrupted time to engage with their ideas.\r\n\r\nOverall, these classroom additions have not only helped with physical comfort and organization—they have supported a culture of independence, self-regulation, and productivity. Students now spend more time learning and less time waiting or becoming distracted. They are empowered to take ownership of their environment, leading to greater academic and social-emotional success. The long-term benefit is immense: by creating a space that acknowledges and supports their individual learning needs, I am helping my students develop lifelong skills in focus, organization, and resilience. These are tools they will carry with them well beyond my classroom, and I'm deeply grateful to be able to provide them with a setting where they can truly thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1739373206033,"projectUrl":"project/the-episode-where-they-all-thrive-flex/9042358/","projectTitle":"The Episode Where They All Thrive - Flexible Seating Edition","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ashby","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9581526_orig.jpg?crop=1290,1290,x0,y795&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1719886470781","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9581526"},{"teacherId":8368187,"projectId":9110362,"letterContent":"Donations from DonorsChoose have had a transformative impact on my classroom, creating new opportunities for learning and growth that would not have been possible otherwise. Thanks to the generosity of donors, we were able to introduce flexible seating options—such as wobble stools, floor cushions, and whiteboard clipboards—that have completely changed the way my students engage with their learning. These additions have made our classroom more comfortable, dynamic, and student-centered, allowing children to choose the seating and tools that work best for their individual learning styles.\r\n\r\nBeyond the furniture and supplies themselves, the support from DonorsChoose has sent a powerful message to my students: that their comfort and well-being matter, and there are people who believe in creating the best environment for them to succeed. This has helped build a stronger, more confident classroom community where students feel more ownership over their learning. The flexible seating and whiteboard clipboards have improved focus, collaboration, and overall classroom morale—and we're incredibly grateful to the donors who made it all possible.","fullyFundedDate":1739410515857,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-for-fifth-grade/9110362/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating for Fifth Grade!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kisil","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8368187_orig.jpg?crop=1244,1244,x0,y381&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1687818335364","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8368187"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_64383","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":446,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":90,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":20,"percentIndigenous":8,"percentLatinx":58,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"18.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":64.6,"schoolId":64383,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Mesquite Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Mesquite Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/casa-grande-elementary-school-district-4/mesquite-elementary-school/64383"}
