The board games help students practice reading skills like vocabulary and comprehension in a fun and meaningful way.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, my students were so excited and couldn't wait to try them. They were fully engaged, working together, reading carefully, and encouraging one another. Even students who sometimes struggle with reading were eager to participate.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our lessons, we will use these supplies and games to strengthen literacy skills and build confidence. Instead of stuffing papers into desks or losing important worksheets, students now keep their reading materials, learning resources, and math worksheets neatly arranged in one place. We use the binders during reading groups, math practice, and independent work time. Students quickly turn to the correct section using their labeled tabs, which helps our lessons run smoothly and gives us more time to focus on learning.\r\n\r\nWhen the binders and dividers arrived, my students were so excited to set them up. They carefully labeled each section and proudly organized their papers. Some students even said it made them feel \"more grown up\" and responsible. For many of them, this was the first time they had a system that truly helped them manage their own materials. It was a powerful moment to see them take ownership of their learning.","fullyFundedDate":1761573521250,"projectUrl":"project/organized-minds-successful-students/9686468/","projectTitle":"Organized Minds, Successful Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Aquino","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10243136"},{"teacherId":4189424,"projectId":9908367,"letterContent":"Thanks to your incredible generosity—and the amazing $2,500 reward from Make a Wish for Teachers—our K–4 English Learner classroom is now filled with exciting speaking tools that are transforming how students build confidence in English. With our new puppets, microphones, speaking cards, and other oral language materials, students are practicing speaking skills in ways that feel fun, safe, and engaging.\r\n\r\nWe use the puppets during partner conversations and storytelling activities, which has especially helped our shy students feel more comfortable expressing themselves. The microphones have become a classroom favorite! Students love using them during presentations, meetings on the carpet, and reading aloud. It makes them feel like their voices truly matter. The speaking cards support structured conversations, helping students practice sentence frames, vocabulary, and academic language in small groups.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was immediate. Students couldn't wait to try everything. Many of them asked, \"Can we use the microphones today?\" and eagerly volunteered to speak in front of the class—something that doesn't always happen in an EL classroom. Seeing their confidence grow has been the most rewarding part.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include using these tools to support a classroom storytelling project where students will create and present their own short stories using puppets and speaking prompts. We are also incorporating more structured academic conversations into our literacy and content lessons to continue strengthening vocabulary and fluency.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our students are not just learning English—they are finding their voices. Thank you for helping create a classroom where every student feels heard, confident, and proud to speak.","fullyFundedDate":1764624557421,"projectUrl":"project/speaking-and-listening/9908367/","projectTitle":"Speaking and Listening","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4189424_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1490997387337","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/angellahall"},{"teacherId":402189,"projectId":9225710,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity.
