The fact that it was fully funded re-affirmed my own opinion about children and getting them outside more; to learn about nature, get their bodies moving, etc. From watching the hummingbirds drink and buzz around, to watching the seeds come up and teaching them about various plants, flowers, succulents, etc. - the children just love to hear about it all (Maybe they tell you how to nip back your petunias to keep them flowering more often!) \r\nAdditionally, not just in the garden, the art that we all have the opportunity to make, using mostly just natural materials, some freshly picked from the garden itself is really amazing to see. Every grade grouping has a week and so the next group will hear all about the snakes we painted in our first lesson or \"Where's Waldo\" in the Labyrinth. The kids are jumping with excitement by the time we get to the garden classroom. We also do stuff that requires our bodies, carrying watering cans or helping to trim back the Cat's Claw vine that makes up the Western border of the garden. For the older students we have just finished up our whittling lessons, that was definitely a favorite, we used some sandpaper, and they learned what the different grit was, and how it changed the feel. Many student's hands cramped a little and I told them to \"Blame it on Ms Paige to your language teacher for cramping your hands.)\r\nIt is my pleasure to be your child's garden teacher, and I appreciate all these donations, support and assistance that everyone has shown. Teaching these kids some of the basic life skills (setting up a tent, learning to be more aware of their surroundings (scavenger hunt) It's been a blessing. Truly, watching their brains work and figure out whatever challenge has arisen. They are so creative!\r\nLastly, I'd share with you that last year a primary student and I sat and watched (for a good 8 minutes) as a bumble bee went from flower to flower gathering pollen. With that said. It was such a peaceful moment. I ask you now, when was the last time you stopped to smell the flowers?","fullyFundedDate":1727364916111,"projectUrl":"project/peace-garden-enhancement-project/8808978/","projectTitle":"Peace Garden Enhancement Project","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Paige","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9770456"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_34143","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":183,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":24,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":58,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":27,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":86.0,"schoolId":34143,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Montessori Education Centre - N Campus on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Montessori Education Centre - N Campus","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/arizona-department-of-education/montessori-education-centre-n-campus/34143"}
