The students were super excited when they saw the new sensory materials! Every student at every ability level has been playing with and exploring the new additions to our classroom. The biggest hit were the sensory mats that they can step on, lay on and jump on to make different patterns and colors. They never get tired of them. Even the adults who visit our classroom are drawn to these sensory tiles. The lava-lamp like sensory toys and gel-bead shapes are also a big hit. The students are fascinated with the textures and colors. They used these to match the colors to the sensory mats the first day I put everything out. \r\nThe sensory bin gets a lot of use and we are able to mix different items into the rice or washable noodles, based on the monthly preschool themes. I really like the reusable noodles as we can sanitize them as opposed to rice or beans which has to be thrown out and replaced. We have also used the noodles for fine motor practice by stringing beads on them. The stacking blocks are one of the favorite go-to activates during table time in the morning. Students work collaboratively to stack (and knock down) the blocks. We quickly discovered that the blocks have animals, shapes and numbers on them as well and students enjoy sharing what they find.\r\nI have recently introduced the rocket sensory board as we have started a space theme. The students fight over it but sometimes 2 or 3 can engage with it at the same time. All of these materials help to make our classroom a fun and stimulating environment. \r\nThanks again for all you do to support teachers. You make it easier for us to engage our students and help them progress.","fullyFundedDate":1756135836790,"projectUrl":"project/meeting-the-sensory-needs-of-preschooler/9324735/","projectTitle":"Meeting the Sensory Needs of Preschoolers in Special Education","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jenn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8645171_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661692405724","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8645171"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_108668","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":54,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":49,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":41,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":76.9,"schoolId":108668,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about The Learning Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"The Learning Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/apache-junction-unified-school-district/the-early-learning-center/108668"}
