Because of you, our students didn't just receive The Boys in the Boat—they stepped into a world of possibility. Even from our early previews, they're already captivated by the story and eager to learn how ordinary young people accomplished something extraordinary through grit, passion, and perseverance.\r\n The excitement in our classrooms is real. Students are already asking thoughtful questions about teamwork, resilience, and what it means to work toward something bigger than yourself. These conversations—happening before we've even begun the full read—are already inspiring us to be more reflective, more empathetic, and kinder to one another.\r\n Your generosity is opening doors to experiences that will make the book even more meaningful when we begin reading it in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Later this year, our students will have the special opportunity to read and discuss parts of the book with members of the University of Arizona baseball team, learning directly from real college athletes about balancing academics, athletics, and personal dedication.\r\n We are also thrilled to welcome a guest speaker whose father rowed at the University of Washington with the very athletes featured in The Boys in the Boat. This rare, personal connection will bring history to life in a way few classrooms ever get to experience.\r\n Thank you for believing in our students and giving them a project that is already sparking curiosity—and will continue to inspire them long after 5th grade. When our project was funded, it felt like every student's birthday all rolled into one. The moment those boxes arrived, eyes lit up and smiles spread across the room — it was pure joy!\r\n\r\nThe new technology, especially our Edison V3 Robots, has transformed the way my students learn. Instead of just reading about angles, distance, and measurement, they now use coding and robotics to see math in action. They can measure, test, and adjust in real time — making learning both hands-on and meaningful. Even students who once felt nervous about math are now eager to experiment and problem-solve together.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is the power of creation. Whether they're programming robots to follow a path, measuring tracks for wind-up cars, or designing colorful charts with our new art supplies, they're learning that math and creativity go hand in hand.\r\n\r\nOne student who used to shy away from technology now volunteers to show others how to use the robots — proudly explaining how each code changes the robot's movement. Seeing that confidence bloom has been incredible.\r\n\r\nBut the greatest gift of all is what can't be measured — my students have learned that their community believes in them and cares deeply about their education. That realization will stay with them long after the last robot run!\r\n\r\nWith heartfelt gratitude,","fullyFundedDate":1756430445914,"projectUrl":"project/the-edison-angle-coding-meets-geometry/9493262/","projectTitle":"The Edison Angle: Coding Meets Geometry","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tilicki","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8181871_orig.jpg?crop=2150,2150,x0,y121&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1644938354664","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8181871"},{"teacherId":6572785,"projectId":8834958,"letterContent":"I want to thank you again for helping bring these books to the hands of my students. While curriculum brings fun and rich text, diving into a novel brings even more. We started this series with the excitement of meeting new characters and adventures. Throughout, I noticed how each student attached to the story and if they could have had it their way, we would have only read the novel most days.\r\n\r\nBeing able to gift an entire book set to every student in my class was one of the greatest things I've gotten to do. They were so excited to continue on with these characters and fully uncover their journeys. They were even excited to share it with loved ones and friends. Reading together as a class, book in hand, is one of their favorite things to do. We got to switch off the technology and just join in the fun all together on the carpet. We explored key reading skills, but also learned how we'd tackle challenges, too.\r\n\r\nThank you again for the help in getting this series for them.","fullyFundedDate":1736965916133,"projectUrl":"project/gifting-the-love-of-reading/8834958/","projectTitle":"Gifting the Love of Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Yarbrough","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6572785"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_63267","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":788,"numTeachers":66,"percentFrplEligible":15,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":63,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":28,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"11.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.8,"schoolId":63267,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Richard B Wilson K-8 School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Richard B Wilson K-8 School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/amphitheater-unified-school-district/richard-b-wilson-k-8-school/63267"}
