We are using the guitars to introduce students to basic chords, rhythm, strumming patterns, and teamwork. What started as curiosity has quickly grown into excitement as students practice, encourage one another, and celebrate each new skill they learn.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful moments has been seeing students who may be hesitant to participate in other activities become eager to pick up a guitar and try something new. They are learning that making mistakes is part of learning and that practice can turn something difficult into something they can do. Through our guitar activities, students are developing patience, focus, confidence, coordination, and perseverance while also having fun. As we continue this project, our next steps are to build students' knowledge of basic chords and simple songs and eventually give them opportunities to perform what they have learned for their classmates and school community. This hands-on experience will increase engagement, boost confidence, and strengthen critical skills such as writing, collaboration, problem-solving, and digital literacy.\r\n\r\nThis technology will also allow my students to capture and celebrate their unique culture and environment. Through 360 images and videos, students can showcase life in Kotzebue—our land, traditions, and daily experiences—giving them a meaningful voice and a sense of pride in their community.
